During Mental Illness Awareness Week, October 4–10, staying informed about your health matters. 💚

If you’re taking antipsychotic medication, talk with your healthcare provider about tardive dyskinesia (TD) and whether routine screening is right for you. Regular conversations and screenings can help support your ongoing care.

For Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re sharing information that can help the Hispanic/Latinx community feel more informed and confident when seeking mental health care. 🧠✨

Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

When meeting with a provider, it can be helpful to ask questions to get a sense of their level of cultural awareness.

Providers expect and welcome questions from their patients or clients, since this helps them better understand what is important in their treatment.

Have you treated other Hispanic/Latinx people?

Have you received training in cultural competence or on Hispanic/Latinx mental health?

How do you see our cultural backgrounds influencing our communication and my treatment?

You know your own experiences best. Asking questions can help make sure those experiences have a place in your care.

Looking for support that understands the unique needs of the Latinx community?
