Raspberries are growing great.
Linda B gave me a few canes two years ago. Only one thrived and now I have to chop these things back constantly.
It's okay. They are delicious.
I'm having to fight the birds for them though.

Got to meet one of my heroes today and he was a delight.
Doug Jones is incredibly generous with his fans. He laughed at the Krampus shot I showed him and told me that I made him proud.

Udon with Dried Shiitake, Black Fungus, Hot Sesame Oil and Jammy Eggs.
A $3 bowl cause s**t is TIGHT and gonna get tighter! With leftovers.

Make the effort to learn how cultures cook cheap and buy the shelf stable ingredients that they utilize.

It requires walking into an "ethnic grocery store."
Ask for help. They want to teach you.

Struggle meals can be spectacular.

Grilled Shrimp with Poached Corn on the Cob and Pan Fried Crushed Potatoes.

Had a cheap ass bag of shrimp that needed to go and made a little brazier to cook it out of my charcoal chimney.
Quick and dirty. Didn't want to break out the grill. These potatoes had sprouted, they needed to go.

In a low country boil, the corn and potatoes are always the standouts.
Made a stock from the shrimp shells, veg scraps and Baby Powder for Alligators.
Corn and potato soaks. Smash and pan fry the taters.
Have a fantastic low country stock left for an Étouffée later.
