✨ Meet Your Board: Jennifer Mina Valencia | Director of Student Affairs ✨

Some people find their purpose. Jennifer built hers — brick by brick 🌍

A first-generation immigrant from Cali, Colombia 🇨🇴 and first-generation college graduate, Jennifer knows what it feels like to navigate spaces that weren’t always designed with you in mind. That experience didn’t slow her down — it became her superpower and her calling.

Today, Jennifer serves as the Economic Development Manager for the , where she leads bilingual and multicultural outreach, champions business growth, and makes sure diverse communities have a seat at the table. Before that, she spent years at Emory University () managing 20+ international alumni networks and building cross-cultural bridges across the globe. She is also the founder of Women of Excellence International .inter), a nonprofit empowering women and girls in ministry and leadership. With degrees from Emory University and Johns Hopkins — Jennifer is still just getting started. 💪🏽

Off the clock, you’ll find her behind a camera lens 📸, planning her next international adventure ✈️ (yes, she visits a new country every year), or grounded in faith through her church community. A woman of depth, creativity, and purpose.

💛 “I want to be a door opener for others — helping create pathways so they can grow, succeed, and reach their full potential.”

ALPFA Atlanta’s student community just got a powerful advocate in their corner. We couldn’t be more excited. 🙌🏽

✨ Board Introduction: Jose Garcia | EVP Finance (Treasurer) ✨

From the streets of Los Ángeles to the halls of Georgia State () — Jose brings a decade of accounting expertise and a whole lot of corazón to the ALPFA Atlanta board. 🌟

By day, Jose is an Accountant at Cisco Systems, where he works in acquisition accounting — the kind of detail-oriented, high-stakes work that requires precision, trust, and a sharp financial mind. As our EVP Finance & Treasurer, he’s channeling that same energy into building a stronger, more transparent financial foundation for our chapter 💪

But what makes Jose’s story resonate goes beyond the numbers. A proud Latino and GSU alum 🐾, Jose has always felt the pull to give back — to be part of something larger than himself and to help the next generation of Latino professionals find their footing. That’s exactly what brought him to the ALPFA Atlanta board.

💙 “I wish to help ALPFA continue growing and transforming our Latino professionals... through transparency and sustainability.”

We’re thrilled to welcome Jose to the ALPFAmilia and can’t wait to see the impact he’ll help us make this season.

✨ Board Re-Introduction: Alex Villanueva | Director of Community Affairs ✨

“Nací en Chicago, crecí en Atlanta — pero siempre Boricua.” 🇵🇷

Alex’s story reflects the journey of so many in our community: shaped by movement, grounded in culture, and driven by purpose.

By day, Alex is a Cybersecurity Manager at EY, helping organizations strengthen trust, governance, and resilience in an increasingly complex world. But beyond the titles, Alex has always shown up for community — creating pathways, building bridges, and making sure others feel seen and supported along the way.

played a pivotal role in Alex’s journey — from saying yes to a résumé workshop as a student to, years later, serving the very community that once poured into him. That gratitude continues to fuel his leadership today.

Outside of work and service, Alex is intentional about recharging — traveling with family, exploring the world, and honoring the quiet moments that make bold leadership possible. As a self-described introverted extrovert, he reminds us that showing up isn’t always easy — but growth lives just outside our comfort zone.

💛 Some leaders lead loudly. Others lead consistently, thoughtfully, and with heart. Alex does all three — and our community is stronger for it.

For over a decade, Luis has poured into through student leadership development and service and we’re grateful to have him helping strengthen how we operate and grow as a chapter.

💛 Luis’s “why ALPFA” revolves around all the opportunities ALPFA brings to our community.

Drop a 🇨🇴 in the comments to show him some love and welcome him (again) to this next season of impact.
