The APG Darkroom Is Coming‚ And We Need Your Help

Construction is officially underway. After years of imagining what it would mean to have a darkroom at the Atlanta Photography Group, we're making it real‚ and we want you to be part of it.

Our backroom is being converted into a fully functional darkroom for APG members. This is a space where film will be developed, prints will be made, and the analog craft will live on.

We're Seeking Equipment Donations

We can't do this without the community, and we're asking you to dig into your closets, garages, and storage units. If you have darkroom equipment that is in good working order that you're no longer using, we would love to give it a new home.

We're looking for donations of all darkroom equipment in good working order, including:

Enlargers (Beseler or Omega, any format ‚35mm, medium format, large format)
Enlarger lenses and condensers
Easels (single-border and multi-format)
Developing trays (8x10, 11x14, and larger)
Film developing tanks and reels
Timers and interval timers
Safelights
Print washers and dryers
Focusing aids and grain focusers
Thermometers and graduates
Light tables and contact printing frames
Miscellaneous darkroom accessories

If you have something not on this list but think it might be useful, please reach out‚ we'd love to hear from you.

How to Donate

To arrange a donation, contact us at [email protected] or stop by the gallery during open hours, Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm ET. We can coordinate pickup for larger items.

All donations are tax-deductible. APG is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Why This Matters

The darkroom represents something essential about photography‚ the intimacy of the process, the patience it demands, and the singular thrill of watching an image appear in a tray of developer. For many of our members, a shared community darkroom is something they haven't had access to in years. For others, it will be their first.

Your equipment donation‚ no matter how large or small‚ helps build that space for everyone.
