It’s always good to spend time with our partners outside the office!

Last month, our Raleigh office had a great opportunity to represent EM Structural at both the NAIOP and AIA Golf Tournaments!

We may not have brought home any trophies this year, but we are always grateful for opportunities to connect and support the communities we serve.

As buildings increase in height, lateral systems begin to drive the design.

Wind, seismic forces, and overall building movement all need to be considered early. That coordination shapes everything from structural layout to overall efficiency.

Work in high-seismic regions requires an additional layer of analysis to ensure performance under more demanding conditions. Our experience in higher seismic design categories, along with tools such as wind tunnel studies, helps us to take a more refined approach to both performance and material use.

We’re happy to announce another well-deserved promotion!

Lindsay Brown has been promoted to Director of Marketing in our Charlotte office. In her role, she continues to shape how EM Structural shows up, supports our teams, and communicates the work happening across the firm.

Her thoughtful approach and steady leadership have made a meaningful impact on our marketing efforts, and we’re grateful for the care she brings to her work.

EM leadership was back together in Charlotte for the first time since 2023.

It was great to have everyone back in the same room. Spending a few days together gave the group time to discuss what’s happening across offices, identify opportunities for improvement, and align on priorities moving forward.

Progress continues at Avalon South Durham in Durham.

The project includes approximately 326 apartment units and 74 townhomes across several garden-style buildings and townhome clusters, along with a clubhouse, pool, detached garages, and other site amenities. Our team is providing structural engineering services for this wood-framed multifamily development.

As the site continues to take shape, it reflects the steady coordination required to keep a large, multi-building project moving forward.

We’re officially in Tampa!

Our team has been working on projects across Florida for years, and this new office lets us show up in a bigger way with a consistent, on-the-ground presence in one of the state’s busiest markets.

Being in Tampa means we can work more closely with architects, developers, and contractors throughout design and construction, and respond faster to project needs across the region.

Leading the charge is Lane Stewart, now Principal, Strategic Partnerships. He’ll oversee regional operations and continue building relationships across Florida and the Southeast. With experience in both development and construction, he brings a practical, start-to-finish perspective on how projects come together.
