“As someone who lives with anxiety and fibromyalgia, I have to build in rest to my life and my schedule or my body will physically let me know that it’s had enough and start giving out on me. I’m learning that I’m really good as ‘fake resting’, you know just one more email, one more design tweak, that can easily get my brain fired back up into full blown productivity mode. Today with the encouragement of my doctor, I made a brave and hard choice, to push pause on The Matrie in order to protect and prioritize my health. I want to encourage you that if you’re in a position to make a brave choice, even if it might not make the most logical business sense, but it might be the right one for your kids, your family or for your health, I’m standing with you in solidarity sister.”- Ashley McClanahan, Founder

Did you know that you make up to 35,000 decisions in a day?! 👀😳 That’s 2,000 per minute 🫣 Make at least one of those decisions be a brave one. One that’s going to push you forward toward your goals. Maybe it’s choosing to take a break instead of pushing your body harder. Maybe it’s splurging on a little something just for you. Maybe it’s journaling instead of watching that next episode. You’re worth that brave decision ✨

Far too often we believe the lie that our work determines our worth. Even the most meaningful endeavors can rob us of our own unique identities when we begin to idolize the rush of success. Say it with me again, your work does not determine your worth. ✨

Happy Juneteenth! Today is a day for celebration! 🎉 A wonderful way to celebrate is by supporting Black-owned businesses, purchasing books, music, or art by a Black author or artist, or donating to organizations fighting for justice. Interested in learning more about this historic day? The shared a fantastic summary: “Although the Emancipation Proclamation officially took effect on January 1, 1863, freedom did not immediately come for all enslaved people because Confederate-controlled states refused to implement it. Freedom finally came nationally on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved people in the state were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as “Juneteenth” by the newly freed people in Texas.”
