The Horse Judging and Hippology contests kicked off an exciting week of equine events in Perry yesterday! Cobb County seniors and Coweta County juniors swept first place in both contests as competitors showed off their knowledge of animal and industry standards. ππ

Georgia 4-H Ambassadors are selected through a competitive application process and receive hands-on training in seven immersive tracks with the goal of taking that training back to their communities. Last week at Rock Eagle 4-H Center, these high school youth became junior experts in Innovative Agriculture, Health & Wellness, Bats, Science & Engineering, Pollinators, Wildlife, and Animal Science. π

The Best Summer Ever starts today! Buses are rolling in for Day 1 of Georgia 4-H summer camp at our five 4-H centers. Thousands of young people will attend camp in the next six weeks and experience life-changing fun. πππ»βοΈ

Wildlife Judging takes the 4-H fun outdoors as participants assess wildlife management practices, create their own management plans and identify species and specimens. Participation in Wildlife Judging has more than doubled in the last two years and three area contests were launched in 2026. Burke County Seniors took home 1st place at the state contest on May 4 in Athens! ππ³

This weekend was packed with opportunities for new Master 4-H'ers: Oconee County took home first place at the State Poultry Judging Contest, Forsyth County claimed first in State Archery Recurve, and Banks County earned top honors in State Archery Compound. π

Georgia 4-H recently celebrated 60 graduating high school seniors at its inaugural Signing Ceremony during Senior Conference. This special event gave graduating 4-Hβers the opportunity to βsignβ into their next chapter, declaring they are Beyond Ready and committed to carrying the skills, values, and experiences they have gained through 4-H into the future. We are so proud of these graduates and look forward to seeing all they will accomplish in the next chapter of their journey.

We are honored to wrap up Volunteer Appreciation Week by recognizing a special Georgia 4-H volunteer: Clint Folsom has just been named the Southern Region Volunteer of the Year! Clint is a Cook County volunteer and is an integral part of the SAFE program there. As a certified BB coach, he mentors hundreds of youth in safety, discipline, and teamwork. He has raised over $10,000 in travel funds for 4-Hβers to attend national competitions and he serves as a member of the Cook County 4-H Program Development Team. Clint was recognized at the State 4-H BB Match, and we are so thankful for his contributions to Cook County and Georgia 4-H!

We are celebrating more than 7,000 volunteers that contribute to the mission of Georgia 4-H during Volunteer Appreciation Week! Dedicated adult and youth volunteers completed 182,969 hours of service last year to 4-H programs that include Project Achievement, summer camp, Project SAFE, judging teams, and so many more opportunities for Georgia's young people. Thank you to every volunteer in the 4-H family!
