Jack Kerouac and William S. Burroughs could’ve invented the true crime genre decades before Truman Capote claimed all the credit with In Cold Blood. Fast, ruthless, and cynical, And the Hippos Were Boiled in Their Tanks, co-written by the Beat legends in 1945, yet unpublished until 2008, is one of our favorite novels by either author 🦛📚❤️
