Inam is a grad student in UGA Genetics. As co-president of the Genetics Graduate Student Association, he advocated and supported grad students in the 1st year of the pandemic. He started a mentor program in the Alliance for Anti-Racism in the Life Sciences. He pairs grad students with undergraduates in the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation in the life sciences.

Congratulations to our very own Claire Bunn, selected as a Gates Cambridge Scholar! She was one of 23 Americans chosen for the award. The scholarship fully funds postgraduate study and research in any subject at the University of Cambridge in England.
Claire will graduate in May with her bachelor's degree in genetics. She was named a Goldwater Scholar in 2021 and is a Foundation Fellow, Stamps Scholar and Honors student in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and Jere W. Morehead Honors College.
Congrats, Claire! We are so proud of you!

Congrats to our newest PhD, Dr Michael Judge! Dr. Judge studied metabolic phenotypes of Neurospora, and was mentored by Art Edison and Jonathan Arnold. Dr. Judge will soon head to a post-doc at Imperial College in London. Congrats!!

We honor the life and legacy of Professor Emerita Mary Case, who passed away last month.
Professor Emerita Mary Case passed away on October 13, 2021, at the age of 95 | Franklin College of Arts and Sciences Mary Elizabeth Case was a founding member of the department of genetics at the University of Georgia in 1980. She remained an active participant in the department after her retirement as Professor Emerita.

We are sorry to report that Professor Emerita Mary Case passed away today. She was active right to the end, helping students and postdocs on a variety of projects. She will be greatly missed by her family, church, colleagues, and students who she so strongly supported.
