🎓In this college town a lot of our volunteers and fosters are college students, and right now they are away for summer break. Couple that with peak “kitten season” and general overcrowding. This is where you come in. 😇

There are many different ways to help, so you can take your pick. Cats, dogs, and whatever else happens to come in! (We’ve got some stories..)

🚨🚨Athens, please help us find a safe place for Spice (AKA “Scissors”)!!🚨🚨

We all know puppies. They are carefree, curious, joy-filled, innocently-naughty creatures. Puppies, as we all know, are supposed to be tiny little bundles of sunshine, ones that have yet to be exposed to the scariest parts of the world. Occasionally, our local shelter (and shelters everywhere) must welcome in a puppy that is quite the opposite to the “traditional” puppy. Today, that puppy is Spice.

Spice, along with her siblings, was brought to ACCAS in mid-May as a stray. When puppies are frozen in fear, it’s quite jarring! Rather than bright eyes and wagging tails, ACCAS staff were met with nervous faces and tense, anxious body language. All three puppies were terrified, with no interest in interacting with humans or the outside world.

As much as we wish this post could conclude with a happy ending, we are instead asking for someone to give this girl a chance. Spice cowered in the back of her kennel for almost 3 weeks, wondering when life would become less scary. A few days ago, she was given her second chance at life. She is currently in a foster home (see pictures above!) where she is beginning to learn what it means to be loved, but her foster can only keep her temporarily and we need to find a longer-term foster (or adoptive!) home ASAP. Returning Spice to the shelter would be detrimental to her progress- please share to help us find somewhere for her to go next!

Sometimes, our most challenging animals require someone to take the leap of faith in order to prove that they can successfully thrive in a home. Her temporary foster has done just that, and now it’s time for us to find someone to take over. To be loved gently is to be treated with kindness and held with care for a lifetime- that is what Spice and her siblings deserve. Help us find the people who are meant to do so!

Spice will thrive in a home with another friendly dog (or cat!) to learn from. She’s a very sweet girl who so badly wants to accept love & affection! If you are interested in fostering Spice specifically, please comment below, message us directly, or text/call her temporary foster at 678-900-8952.
