When our girls were little, an older parent told me that when their kids turned 13, they celebrated by taking a trip with just that child and the parents.

This year, our youngest turned 13, and David and I took our last “13th birthday trip.” 🥹

Honestly, it’s never really been about the trip itself. It’s about the conversations that happen when you finally get uninterrupted time with just them.

“What are you most excited about as a teenager?”
“What makes you nervous?”

And then comes the question that always makes us take a deep breath before asking…
“What are we getting right as parents, and what are we getting wrong?” 🫣

That question can be humbling, eye-opening, and incredibly insightful coming from a 13-year-old.

These moments are so special, and I’m thankful we’ve made this tradition part of our family.

Since she was little, Suzie has been twirling around the house singing The Sound of Music and dreaming of being Maria. Just the best getting to watch that dream come to life - and even better that she got to do it alongside her sister as one of the nuns.

Another Field Day is in the books. Did my team win? No. Was it at least close? Still no. But we did have fun!

Another prom season has come and gone. From last-minute dashes to the store for bobby pins to hair appointments getting canceled 😵‍💫, there are a lot of hoops we parents jump through. But seeing their smiles and hearing all their stories makes me wish I could pause time.

Such a sweet morning talking about God’s big, never-ending love for us — and what it looks like to love others the way He loves us.

Also… based on the number of “DO IT AGAIN!” requests, I may have made a tactical error by showing them that I can make a horn sound with my mouth. 🥴📯

Aren’t these kiddos just the cutest? 🥹

Spent the morning at Landmark Academy for Chapel Day, then had the sweetest time loving on the incredible staff with coffee and treats. ☕️🍩

A special shout-out to Zayley, who helped me plant flowers 🌸 and reminded all of us what it looks like to wait on the Lord with patience and trust.
