Saturday, December 6, we celebrated the many-ith year of the annual Red Clay Writing Project Conference. These are only a few of the beautiful moments we shared through community, writing, and creating, and this year’s Fellows blew us away facilitating their mini-conference sessions. Among the guests this year, we had past Fellows from the 2022 and 2023 cohorts, and we had a past Fellow from the 2015cohort. We had a few other invited guests of the Fellows, and we had a walk-in guest who joined out of curiosity! A first year PhD student came to catch up on some work, saw the Red Clay conference sign, and wandered into the sessions to see what was what. He ended up staying the rest of the conference, was one of our raffle winners, and best of all, is applying to the 2026 cohort. Our own Stephanie Jones joined us on Zoom to wrap up the conference—and we talked about encountering moments in our lives with a beginners mind. So many good things continue to grow in Red Clay.💖

Yesterday and today were full of writing, toy hacking-deconstructing and re-constructing toy's narratives--collaging, zine-ing, spoken word, happiness, and processing! So many good things grow in red clay! Thank you to our guests, Cecilia, Amanda, and Life!
Looking forward to the writing marathon tomorrow-rain or shine-at the Botanical Gardens!

Want to help with a small Barrow County action item for supporting teachers?
As co-directors of the Red Clay Writing Project (for K-16 educators) Stephanie Jones and I have connections with a number of Barrow County teachers and administrators, including teachers at Apalachee HS who have been long-time Red Clay Fellows.
Winder Elementary School administrative team has asked for us to invite community folks to create a “slide” for a canva slide show they will play as teachers come back to school Monday morning. We expect others will reach out for various kinds of support…they created the template to get the project started but you can make your slide into anything you want.
If any of you would like to make a slide with a note or quote or thank you or encouragement, please click here:
