You freaking did it. 🙌🏼
However 2021 treated you, you made it through another wild year.
I've come to realize that remembering what was is just as important as celebrating what is to come.
I'll be popping a glass of champagne in this gorgeous coupe tonight and if I'm totally honest I'll probably be in bed by 11.
How are you celebrating?

Have you ever found something that just lights you up inside?
The first time I art directed a product photoshoot, I wasn't really sure what to expect.
I'd witnessed countless shoots but my first time brought an entirely new perspective.
There's something so beautiful about creating a brand and actually directing how it comes to life through photography.
This Royal India photoshoot was ahhmazing and we had so much fun finding all the perfect props!
Next year, one of my major goals is to have the opportunity to art direct more brand photoshoots.
What is one of your goals for 2022?

I've been told that a normal adult Christmas wish list consists of...
Trader Joe's gift cards
Comfy socks
Subscriptions to a spa
Don't get me wrong. These are ALL on my wish list. But the brand designer in me can't help adding a business twist to things.
Every year I always wish for dream clients for the upcoming year.
Avere Wealth is one of them! They are a high-end wealth management firm and were willing to invest in print to bring their brand to life through tangible touchpoints.
We sent this project to print recently and chose to use luxe printing methods to reflect the premium offering and target audience.
I can't wait to get these items in and get this one photographed!
What does your dream client look like?

My top investments of 2021 👇🏼
I talk a lot about investing in your brand to be able to scale your business.
Sometimes the investments payout immediately.
Sometimes they take a while to show any benefits (weeks, months, even years!).
The point is, no matter how long it will take to see the results, it's still worth starting.
Here's what I was busy investing in this year:
• Actually paid for a website! I finally worked with my long-time web partner Stefani (from .oak) and WOW! I'm still in awe.
• I invested a lot in my own client experience. I invested in business cards, note cards, envelopes, tissue paper, stickers, and client gifts.
• Added a VA & junior designer to my team.
• Created a shop on my website, which is a surprising amount of startup costs!
• Began going to therapy. Whew, it's hard but so worth it!
What have you invested in this past year? Did it bring immediate rewards or will you have to play the long game to see it come to fruition?

How does knowing your "Why" impact your business's success?
Your "why" is an integral part of your business - and should be a major driving force behind every decision you make, every interaction with a client, and the product or service you create.
Everything in your business should be geared towards accomplishing the greater picture.
Want to know the "why" behind the brand?
I started to support other business owners who are working to make the world a better place. I've seen the power of branding and the impact it can have on a business.
My goal is to live a slow life, travel a lot, support myself and maybe one day a family, and give generously.
So...
Why did you start your own business?

Here are all the things that are included in a brand (spoiler alert, it's more than just your logo).
A brand is SO much more than your logo.
If you've noticed over the past few decades of brand designs, logos are getting increasingly simpler and the overall brand experience is what brings the brand to life.
Here are *just a few* things a good brand can include:
• Logos (a few, for different uses)
• Icons
• Textures
• Illustrations
• Patterns
• Tag lines
• Color Palette
• Typography

Want to know how we designers create custom-type elements for our clients?
Every time I start a project, I begin by exploring all my go-to font foundries and selecting a few options.
*Pro-tip: since the base font is the foundation, the more the font embodies the client's brand voice, the less stress you will have when customizing it.
Once we have the perfect base font, I go in and custom the font to fit my client's specific needs and bring their brand to life!
I'll be honest, the customization phase can be tedious but the results are ALWAYS worth it!
This font is then used to create the client's logo variations, marks, icons, taglines, and can even be included in some patterns to add a unique flair to their packaging/marketing.
Want to know a secret? Whenever I send off a concept to clients for their approval, I get butterflies from the excitement.
Fonts play such a foundational role in branding and being able to deliver custom fonts to my clients guarantees that their brand is one-of-a-kind.

Who doesn't love a before and after photo (except weight loss because that's BS and toxic AF)?
I certainly do!
When I first started working with Royal India, I knew the scope of the project included tangible touch points such as label designs and business cards.
The comprehensive brand came together beautifully! And it honestly shocked me how much of an elevated experience the new branding brought to the Royal India company.

This year I discovered the difference between surviving and thriving in my business.
2021 can be summed up into 2 phrases: buckling down and doing some daaaang work.
Don't get me wrong, I am all for hard work. No one ever said this entrepreneurial lifestyle is easy.
But if I'm being transparent, some of 2021 felt more like I was just surviving.
As the year is coming to a close, I'm realizing that quietly, slowly in the background, some bigger dreams are forming.
Next year I'm excited to begin making some big decisions and investments in order to continue pushing myself towards the business + life I want.
How do you feel about 2021?

Hearing my client say this is *Chef's kiss * tre magnifique...
"I'm ALL in and ready to invest in a comprehensive brand experience."
Yes, as a brand designer, I will always say that logos, color palettes, and typography are important.
Honestly, those are the fundamentals - the bare bones of a brand's visuals.
Copywriting, photography, and web design are how to bring your brand to life in a comprehensive way.
Last year, my client Tom (from ) was ready to go ALL in on his company.
I built the brand and Stefani (from .Oak) built his website using Tom's stunning photography and thoughtful copy.
The results?
He had 5 inquiries within 2 days of launching his website.
