Our series of summer book sales will continue this week at the Ashburn Library. It kicks off with a presale ($20 entree fee) on Friday, June 12, followed by regular sale days on Saturday and Sunday.

There's a new book vending machine in town! Bring your library card to Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS) at 42225 Adoption Drive in Leesburg to make your "Gotcha Day" a story to remember. LCPL cardholders pay zero adoption fees this Saturday and Sunday, and you can use the machine to get your first library card. A ribbon-cutting will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

This week, get creative with 16mm film, jam to live lute music from the Enlightenment era, and get involved at one of our volunteer expos.

Also, examine Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" with historian Richard Gillespie.
