Our custom persimmon 2 woods with a hard phenolic insert, a brass inlay and a thick gauge brass sole plate, with brass face screws. Perhaps even a brass backweight, more later. The feeling of hitting it on the screws. Custom fitted and made to order.

Here, is one of six large upright belt sanders that are tooled up specifically to taper the necks of persimmon heads. There's a back story. These machines came to us from Wilson Sporting Goods in a factory surplus purchase. At one time, Wilson Sporting Goods had more machinery to make golf clubs than they could even use. Making room for space, and with the timing of the metal wood tidal wave in the late 1980's, the wood head department was eliminated. It was Bob Mendralla, a longtime club-making legend at Wilson Sporting Goods, along with Carl Schea, that sought a better option than scrapping. By fall of 1990, a bunch of machinery and tooling was shipped by truck from Tullahoma Tennessee, to Appleton Wisconsin. Today, this machinery preserved in our workshop, and its handover is part of our 50 year history.

We fabricate our face inserts from large sheets of phenolic. Your choice, brown, red, black. Each with a brass inlay we cut from long strips. We also build our heads with 100% American grown persimmon.

A view into Robbie's workshop at Bob Burns Golf. Custom fabricated phenolic face inserts with brass inlays are epoxied into persimmon fairway woods. Next, some trimming and sanding. We use industrial machinery, but a quite amount of hand work is still involved. These inserts with that brass inlay withstand the modern golf balls.

We build our persimmon heads and custom fabricate our face inserts from large sheets of phenolic with brass inlays. Still an art with machinery we have preserved, and Robbie's favorite clubs to make. Anyone who has visited Bob Burns Golf enough times has met Peter. Peter practices all winter, working on his swing, and improving. Even more, Peter will often be seen helping Bob during his lessons quietly adjusting the launch monitors, keeping the Ipad tablets ready, and chatting with our patrons. Peter's love for the game of golf and his helping of others with Bob is immense. Here's a great picture of Peter getting some help with game with Bob.

Our new 50th anniversary limited edition mallet putters are made of stainless steel. These feature precision milled faces and have a golf pvd finish. All putters are sequentially numbered thru 100 heads. Custom fitted and made to order.

Here's a view of another of our Limited Edition Putter designs. These are made of stainless steel and feature milled faces. It also has a wide sole profile with a simple while sight line. This one is finished in a gold pvd color. Each putter is sequentially numbered thru 100 in this style. Custom fitted and made to order.
