Outagamie County CERT

Monthly CERT meeting with a great presentation from Jordan at Outagamie County Recycling & Solid Waste on household hazardous materials and proper disposal of those products. Thanks Grand Chute Fire Department for hosting our meeting!

Thank you City of Appleton Public Health, Liz and Cheryl, for the presentation on the Basic Needs Team at our monthly meeting. We were also spoiled with a picnic dinner sponsored by Friends of CERT.

April and May passed by in the blink of an eye, and I do not want to miss the opportunity to recognize our incredible CERT team for the outstanding volunteer work they provided during the historic flooding in the northwest part of our county.

CERT members — including several of our newest volunteers — stepped up wherever they were needed. They assisted with sandbagging operations, emergency sheltering, donations management, EOC operations, damage assessments, and support for the Multi-Agency Resource Center. Our team also extended its efforts into Winnebago and Waupaca Counties to assist with damage assessment activities there.

I am incredibly proud to be part of this amazing group of dedicated volunteers. Your willingness to serve, your compassion, and your commitment to helping others during a difficult time did not go unnoticed.

Thank you for everything you do for our communities.

Another awesome Basic CERT class tonight. Thank you to Tim from WE Energies for the utility safety presentation. We also covered fire safety and light search and rescue techniques.

We had a busy night at our Basic CERT class tonight. Thank you to Sheryl from the Victim Crisis Response team and Lori and Edison from Appleton Police Department for talking to our class about self-care and disaster related trauma.

We had a great time at our annual volunteer recognition party for our CERT members. Thank you FOCERT for covering the cost of dinner from Kelsey’s Country Kitchen. We enjoy spending time socializing and laughing together!💚

We are very excited to announce that we have scheduled our next Basic CERT Training Course. If you are interested in learning about basic first aid, fire and utility safety, light search and rescue techniques and some great personal preparedness tips, this might be the class for you! This would also give you the opportunity to join our Outagamie County CERT team after completion of the course. Please see the attached flyer for registration information and class dates and times. Class size is limited, so register early!💚💚
