Two stories up and still cutting in.

Some people get high for fun.
I get high for perfect paint lines.

34 years later… still worth the climb.

Kitchen/dining room prep. Floors being replaced soon so no need to protect them with drops.

And here it is—the finished transformation.

After all the preparation, priming, and careful application, this fireplace has a completely new look and is a beautiful focal point of the room.

The fireplace color is a custom color match called Bunker Parsnip, selected by interior color consultant
Jennifer Christensen. Jennifer has become a trusted resource for both me and my clients, and I really appreciate the expertise she brings to choosing colors that work beautifully together within a space.

For this room, the walls are Benjamin Moore Fossil in a satin finish, with Fossil carried onto the ceiling in a flat finish.

This is the final installment of this three-part fireplace transformation. If you've followed along from the meticulous preparation in Part 1 through priming and painting in Part 2, thank you!

Have you ever considered updating your fireplace with paint instead of replacing it? The transformation can be remarkable.

Fireplace transformations have become one of my favorite projects because they can transform the look and personality of a room without the cost of a major renovation.

With the preparation complete, it's time for the transformation to begin.

A beautiful finish starts with the right foundation. Proper priming promotes adhesion, prevents tannin bleed-through, and allows the finish coats to achieve the rich, durable appearance they're designed for.

From there, it's all about careful application and attention to detail. Each coat brings this fireplace one step closer to becoming a completely new focal point of the room.

This is Part 2 of a 3 part fireplace series. Stay tuned for the finished transformation in Part 3.

Every beautiful fireplace transformation begins well before the first coat of paint.

The preparation is where the quality is built.

Thorough cleaning, deglossing, removing hardware, and precision masking all ensure a crisp, durable finish that blends seamlessly with the home—not simply painted over.

You may notice the carpet isn't protected in this project. That's because the homeowners planned to replace it with beautiful white oak flooring.

This is Part 1 of a three-part fireplace transformation. Stay tuned as I share the priming and painting process next, followed by the finished transformation.
