Happy 4/20 Day!

Sadly, another 4/20 day arrives without the Republican majority taking up the Democratic bill to fully legalize cannabis in WI--something the vast majority of our state supports.
Our ma*****na legalization bill would generate $300 million annually from legal w**d sales within five years and $60 million of those annual profits would help fund projects in local municipalities.⁣

After November, wouldn't you like to see WI taking advantage of(and regulating) this industry? Revenue, safety, education, pain management and yes, recreation are all possible.

If you haven't yet heard, YES, I am running for re-election to the WI State Assembly in District 52!

It is my true honor to be your voice and fight for a better life for you in Madison. Whether it is investing in public education, resources for veterans, ensuring our natural spaces are free from pollutants, finding ways to make healthcare and prescriptions more affordable, working to solve the child care affordability crisis, or legislation to reduce the cost of housing for home owners and renters alike--I've been putting in the work for you.

THIS SATURDAY at the Democratic Party of Outagamie County office we are joining their Pancakes & Porkies Signature collection event. I'll be around from 9:30-11:30 before heading out to knock some doors. Come say hello and sign my nomination forms if you live in District 52! Not sure? Here's a map: https://maps.legis.wisconsin.gov/?house=a&district=52

Plus you can sign for many statewide races as well. See you this weekend!

Today my Democratic colleagues and I traveled to Madison for the Governor's Special Session of the Legislature to address a constitutional amendment for non-partisan redistricting.

Per usual, the Republican side of the chamber was empty as their members did not bother to show up to work. The procedural move made today by Republican leadership was to gavel in for the special session and then adjourn until Thursday, April 16th at 10:00 AM. They are making disingenuous claims that they are leaving it open to negotiate. The Governor made clear again today that he will not entertain discussion on a bill around legislative maps-- his bottom line is a Constitutional amendment.

I will remain here in Madison until after 10 AM Thursday in case Republicans try any additional procedural mischief.

Let's just do the jobs the fine people of Wisconsin elected us to do. Put our butts in seats in the Capitol and get to work on reducing costs for families. Lower property taxes, fund public schools, reduce the costs of child care, healthcare, and fund Knowles Nelson. SO many things left undone while the GOP in the Senate and Assembly fight amongst themselves.

WISCONSIN’S LIBERAL SUPREME COURT MAJORITY 🇺🇸

With Justice-elect Chris Taylor’s massive victory last night, the WI Supreme Court’s liberal majority expands to 5-2.

Wow! The numbers speak for themselves.

Congratulations to all the winners and appreciation for all who step up to run. It's not easy and regardless of your political positions, the bravery and vulnerability it takes to put yourself out there should be commended.

But, yah for Democratic trends! 🩵

Congratulations to Justice-Elect Chris Taylor!

What to expect on the 2026 Spring Election Day in Wisconsin 04/07/2026

Polls are OPEN!

Wisconsin please get out the vote and support Judge Chris Taylor, Public School referendums and candidates for school board, city council and county board who lead with compassion, integrity, facts and a belief that "we all do better when we all do better."

And don't forget to thank your election workers for their dedication and passion for our democratic process!

What to expect on the 2026 Spring Election Day in Wisconsin WASHINGTON (AP) — Wisconsin voters will choose a new state Supreme Court justice in an April 7 election that will either maintain or expand the court's liberal majority. Meanwhile, the ...

Happy Election Eve! Before you turn in tonight, make a voting plan for tomorrow. Before work? Lunch break? After work? You decide!

Tomorrow's Election Day results in WI will depend on turn out.
Specifically who decides to turn out.

Absentee ballots and early, in-person voting are down nearly 50% in parts of the state. This could mean many things (lack of interest & information, less spending in the WI Supreme Court race, folks heeding the dementia President's false remarks that absentee voting is fraudulent, general disdain for politic in general now as the work falls apart--you name it).

What is important to remember is that the Wisconsin Supreme Court race is ALWAYS vital to laws governing Wisconsin justice and democracy. We must elect Chris For Justice (Chris Taylor).

Think your local races are not important? Think again. I guarantee you that the things that irk you the most in your community are decided by your county board or city council members. Local leaders impact your daily life in far more ways than state legislators like me.

And school board? Anti-public education conservatives are coming for you. Moms of Liberty, AFP, and local conservative groups like the Fox Valley Initiative want nothing more than to destroy public schools from within by withholding resources so they can claim failure and the privatize schools- controlling what is taught and giving taxpayers no say.

And finally, I can say without a single doubt, that the Appleton Area School District and the 72 districts across the state who have an operational referendum on the ballot to fund their needs, are truly squeezing the last bit of every expense to try and meet student needs. The state has spent 16 years literally starving schools of the money required to provide for student learning needs, safety and well-being, all while expecting better and better results and then pointing fingers when schools fail to live up to their demands. We may have fewer students but those students have GREATER needs. Please help our schools do what is right by our kids and VOTE YES tomorrow to support Appleton Area Public Schools.

A reminder that you need to have a valid ID to vote. You can register to vote on Election Day as long as you are a citizen and have lived in WI for at least 28 days. You have the right to leave your workplace and vote (up to 3 hrs) and not be fired. Information on where to vote and more is available at:

Learn the facts and don't forget to VOTE on April 7th!

On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, our community will consider approving a nonrecurring operational referendum. AASD is asking voters to approve $15 million per year for 4 years, beginning in 2026–27 and ending after the 2029–30 school year.

The estimated tax impact is about $15 annually for a $100,000 home, or approximately $45 per year for the average Appleton-area home valued at $300,000.

If approved, referendum funds would support:
✅ maintaining existing programs and services and addressing the district’s ongoing budget deficit
✅ a school counselor in every neighborhood school, every day, and a 50% increase in access to social workers, allowing students to receive help faster when facing mental health, family, or social challenges that are barriers to learning

If you’re still looking to learn more, we’ve got you covered. Visit our website https://www.aasd.k12.wi.us/district/district-information/referendum for straightforward information and helpful resources.

There are still many folks who have misinformation or a lack of information about why the Appleton Area School District is going to a referendum.

Please take the time to learn about the long history of fiscal responsibility, budget cuts and efforts to serve the increasing needs of students with depleting resources from the state.

Please vote YES in favor of Appleton Public Schools and our wonderful students on or before April 7.
