Shop Talk Saturday - Don't Ignore This!

A customer brought in their 2016 Honda HR-V because the passenger rear tire was wearing out much faster than the others.

At first glance, some people might think:
"It's just a tire issue."

But after a thorough inspection, we found the real culprit.

The vehicle had previously been hit in the right rear, which caused the rear wheel alignment to be significantly out of specification. The damage had affected the rear axle assembly, and no amount of tire replacements would have solved the problem.

The proper repair?
✔️ Replace the rear axle assembly
✔️ Perform a complete alignment

Fun Fact: Your rear axle assembly doesn't just hold the wheels in place. It plays a critical role in keeping your vehicle tracking straight down the road and ensuring your tires wear evenly. When it's bent or damaged, you can experience:
-Rapid tire wear
-Poor handling
-Reduced fuel economy
-Constant alignment issues

That's where teamwork comes in. Lucas and Matt worked together to replace the rear axle assembly and then used our state-of-the-art Hunter alignment system to get everything back within factory specifications.

The result?
✅ Proper tire wear
✅ Better handling
✅ One less thing for the customer to worry about

The lesson here: If you notice one tire wearing out significantly faster than the others, don't ignore it. Tires often tell a story, and catching the problem early can save you hundreds—or even thousands—of dollars down the road.

Did you know transmission fluid does a lot more than just lubricate parts?

In fact, transmission fluid is basically the blood of your vehicle. It:
-Hydraulically actuates gear changes
-Helps prevent corrosion
-Carries heat away from internal components
-Protects your transmission during towing and stop-and-go driving

This week we performed a transmission fluid drain and refill on Tiffany's 2019 Chevy Silverado as part of its 100,000-mile maintenance.

Tiffany plans on keeping her truck for years to come, and we love hearing that! One of the best ways to get the most life out of your vehicle is by staying on top of routine maintenance before problems start.

Since she intends to keep the truck long-term, we recommended upgrading from the factory transmission pan to an aftermarket pan that offers:
-Increased fluid capacity
-Improved cooling
-A built-in drain plug for easier future maintenance

Speaking of transmission pans... take a look at the old one in the photo. Is it just us, or does it look like it has a sad face?

Maybe it's sad because it knows it's being retired after 100,000 miles of service.

We're grateful Tiffany trusts us to help keep her Silverado on the road for the long haul!
