Genesis Impact Sports Hosts Barrels & BBQ Aug. 8 to Benefit Local Anti-Human Trafficking Organizations
Family-friendly community event will support Fox Valley organizations fighting human trafficking

APPLETON, Wis. Genesis Impact Sports will host the second annual Barrels & BBQ on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free, family-friendly community event will bring together local businesses, veterans, first responders, nonprofit organizations and families while raising funds for two Fox Valley nonprofits fighting human trafficking.

Attendees can enjoy great local barbecue, a kids' zone, community vendors, military and first responder displays, public safety demonstrations, raffles, giveaways, food, entertainment and more. 5-Stones Fox Valley will be leading a presentation on s*x trafficking and s*xtortion. The optional presentation will be held in a room separate from the main event, and the content is intended for audiences 12 and older.

More than a fundraiser, Barrels & BBQ brings together local businesses, veterans, first responders, military organizations, nonprofit groups and families for a day focused on strengthening the community while supporting organizations fighting human trafficking. The event raises funds for two nonprofits working to prevent human trafficking, educate the public, and support victims throughout the Fox Valley and Northeast Wisconsin.

Proceeds from fundraising activities will benefit Damascus Road Project and 5-Stones Fox Valley, two Fox Valley organizations dedicated to educating, preventing, and intervening against human trafficking.

"It is our hope that attendees of this event learn about this problem that exists, how to safeguard those who are vulnerable, and the importance of walking alongside those who have been victimized on their journey to restoration," says Kelly Olson, Special Initiative Director at Damascus Road Project. "To date, Damascus Road Project has served more than 760 clients. Without amazing partners like Genesis Impact Sports and passionate community members, our organization would not be able to continue these efforts."

"Education is one of the most effective tools we have to prevent trafficking before it happens," said Kris Pierce of 5-Stones. "We want people to leave with a better understanding of how trafficking and s*xtortion affect our communities and what they can do to help."

"Barrels & BBQ is about bringing people together to enjoy a great day while supporting organizations making a real difference right here in the Fox Valley," said Sean Gibbons, co-owner of Genesis Impact Sports. "We hope people leave having had fun, learned something new, and found ways they can help fight human trafficking here in Northeast Wisconsin."

Community partners include Custom Offsets, Vande Hey Landscaping, Ultimate Veteran Adventures, and additional local organizations supporting the event's mission.

Barrels & BBQ is free to attend. Donations to support Damascus Road Project and 5-Stones will also be accepted during the event.

The audience had an opportunity to hear the story of John DeMay’s son Jordan DeMay’s and his tragic death by su***de due to an online crime noted as “Sextortion”.

5-stones was pleased by the support of Appleton and Oshkosh School District, Law Enforcement Representatives from Oshkosh and Appleton Police Department and SRO’s – School Resource Officers who support our schools and students.
