Researchers have validated the first-ever tool to measure scope of Period Product Insecurity (PPI) and inform policies to end it.
The Van Ness Period Product Insecurity Scale (VNPPIS) was recently published in the journal Women's Health by Dr. Kels M. Bowman.
Researchers' national survey found that 8% of the U.S. adult population are likely to experience PPI.
That's over 21 million people according to U.S. Census Bureau population estimates.
We are incredibly excited by this announcement and eager to see how it drives further change in ending period poverty!

2,000 summer kits. Packed. Ready to go. 🩸
Last week, supporters of The Monthlies Project came together to pack 2,000 summer kits filled with period products for young menstruators across NE WI — because periods don't stop when school is out, and access shouldn't either.
And the momentum doesn't stop there. We were also joined by Appleton Mayor Jake Woodford, who issued a proclamation recognizing period poverty awareness and the work of The Monthlies Project — bringing even more visibility to an issue too many young people quietly navigate every day.
The movement is growing.
The stigma is shrinking.
And we are just getting started 🩸
