🎭 Meet Nate Scheuers

Nate Scheuers has been creating theatre magic for more than 20 years. Originally from Fox Lake, WI, Nate performed in his first show in middle school, beginning a lifelong journey in theatre. He went on to study at Dordt University, earning a BA in Theatre Arts: Acting & Directing. During his time at Dordt, Nate performed roles including Hamlet in Hamlet and Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors. He also discovered a passion for lighting design, earning the KCACTF award for Best Lighting Design in 2012 for his work on The Women of Lockerbie.

Nate continued his theatrical pursuits with an internship at Porchlight Music Theatre in Chicago in the fall of 2012. He also spent three summers at Treasure Village Children's Theatre, where he acted, taught, and even ran the scene shop.

Nate currently lives in Appleton with his two sons, Jackson and Flynn, and his two cats, Buffy and Willow. He has been deeply involved in Wisconsin's community theatre scene for nearly a decade, performing everywhere from Waupun to Eau Claire. Some of his favorite and most recent credits include Roger De Bris in The Producers, Snoopy in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown!, and Plankton in SpongeBob the Musical. Nate also performs improv with his friends in The Joe Schmoes, bringing laughter to audiences throughout Wisconsin.

Nate is thrilled to bring his love of storytelling to Appleton West High School. He looks forward to helping young artists discover their passions, build their confidence, and grow in their artistry. He is excited for a thrilling year of theatre and can't wait to see what these young performers create!

A New Role for a Familiar Face! πŸ§‘πŸ’™

We’re excited to congratulate Jay Coonen on being selected as our next Associate Principal of Athletics and Activities.

Jay has been part of the West family since 2018, first as a special education teacher and, since 2020, as our Dean of Students. His deep commitment to our students, passion for West, and belief that every student deserves a place to belong make him a natural fit for this role.

As a wrestling coach, Jay has helped grow a program where students feel welcomed, supported, and connected. We’re excited to see him bring that same student-centered mindset to all of our athletics and activities as we continue to increase opportunities for students to get involved and find their place at West.

Congrats Jay! We’re excited for all that’s ahead!
