🚒🔥 **SOUND THE ALARM! MISS ROXY’S LITTLE FIREFIGHTERS ARE ON THE JOB!** 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒❤️

Today was a VERY exciting day at **Miss Roxy’s Daycare & Preschool!** We had a special visit from the Angola Fire Department, and let me tell you… it was a WHOLE LOT of information and a WHOLE LOT OF FUN! 🚒❤️

Our little learners got an up-close look at a REAL fire truck and learned all about the important job our firefighters do to keep our community safe! ❤️

🚒 We explored fire trucks and learned about all the equipment they carry!

🧑‍🚒 We learned about firefighter uniforms, protective gear, and why firefighters wear all that special equipment!

🔥 We talked about fire safety and what to do if we ever find ourselves in a fire!

🚨 We learned about smoke alarms, why they are SO important, and what to do when we hear one!

🏠 We talked about having a family fire escape plan and knowing how to get outside safely!

And most importantly, we learned that **firefighters are our FRIENDS and HELPERS!** Even when they are wearing all their big, bulky equipment, they are there to help us! ❤️

Our kiddos were also SO excited to present our special firefighter with some **classroom artwork we made just for our firefighters**, along with a basket FULL of snacks to take back and share with everyone at the fire station! 🎨🍪❤️ Just a little something from our little hands and big hearts to say THANK YOU for everything they do!

🚨 **ATTENTION PARENTS! YOUR CHILD HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN PROMOTED TO JUNIOR FIREFIGHTER!** 🚨

That's right! Our little learners now have their very own firefighter hats AND an important job to do when they get home! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

🔥 **YOUR FAMILY'S FIREFIGHTER HOMEWORK!** 🔥

With Mom and Dad's help, we want our little firefighters to:

✅ **CHECK YOUR SMOKE ALARMS!** Make sure they are working properly! Let your child help by listening for the sound when you test them!

✅ **CHECK YOUR FIRE EXTINGUISHER!** Make sure your home has one, that it is in working condition, and that the grown-ups know how to use it!

✅ **MAKE A FAMILY FIRE ESCAPE PLAN!** Talk about how to get out of your home safely, practice your escape routes, and choose a special meeting place outside where everyone will gather!

These are such important conversations to have with our little ones! Fire safety isn't just something we learn about for a week in preschool. It's something that can truly save lives! ❤️

And while today was filled with excitement, giggles, firefighter hats, and a REALLY COOL fire truck, there was so much meaningful learning happening along the way! Our kiddos were building confidence, learning important safety skills, developing an understanding of community helpers, and discovering what to do in an emergency.

Look at that smile! 🥰 Westen did an AMAZING job completing her September Reading Log! We are so proud of you, Westen! ❤️👏🏼

We know how important reading at home is, and we love seeing our kiddos making reading a part of their everyday routine. Whether they are reading a book independently or snuggling up and reading a book together with you, every story counts!

📖❤️ Those little moments together help build vocabulary, comprehension, imagination, and a lifelong love of reading.

🍎 Parents, don’t forget! Your child can turn in their completed reading log ANYTIME throughout the month! Once they turn it in, they get to choose a NEW book to take home! 🎉📚❤️

So keep reading those stories, keep filling those apples, and keep making those special reading memories at home!

🚒🚑🚓 Calling All First Responders! 🚓🚑🚒
We have officially kicked off our First Responders Unit at Miss Roxy’s Daycare & Preschool, and our classroom has been BUSY! ❤️

Our dramatic play center got a whole lot more exciting as our little learners stepped into the very important roles of firefighters, EMTs, and police officers! One minute there’s a fire that needs put out, the next someone needs a check-up, and then suddenly we have police officers racing in to save the day. 😂 Apparently there are a LOT of emergencies happening at Miss Roxy’s!

But underneath all that adorable pretend play is SO much learning. 🥰 Dramatic play helps children build communication and vocabulary, cooperation, problem-solving, imagination, empathy, confidence, and social-emotional skills. They’re learning how to take turns, work as a team, care for others, and understand the important jobs people in our community do every single day.

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be learning about what firefighters, EMTs, police officers, and other first responders do, the tools and vehicles they use, how they help keep us safe, and what WE can do in an emergency. 🚒🚑🚓

And judging by these pictures…I think we may already have a few future first responders in the making! ❤️😂

🍎🎨 WE COULDN’T END OUR APPLE UNIT WITHOUT APPLE STAMPING! 🎨🍎

We have rolled them, tasted them, counted them, patterned them, read about them…and of course we had to PAINT with them! 😂❤️
Our kiddos used real apple halves as their very own stamps, dipping them into paint and pressing them onto their paper to see the apple shape appear. 🍏🍎
It looks like a simple (and wonderfully messy!) art activity, but those little hands were doing SO much learning!
🍎 Fine motor strength — grasping, holding, pressing, and lifting the apples
🎨 Creative expression — choosing colors and creating their own designs
👀 Hand-eye coordination — deciding where to place each apple print
🧠 Cause & effect — discovering what happens when we use different amounts of paint and pressure
✋ Sensory exploration — feeling, smelling, touching, and painting with a real apple
🍏 Science & observation — getting a closer look at the inside of an apple and noticing its shape, seeds, skin, and parts
🌈 Color recognition & vocabulary — talking about colors, shapes, textures, and the marks we created
And one of my favorite parts—there was no “right” way for their artwork to look. Each child got to explore, experiment, and create their own apple masterpiece. ❤️
This is exactly what learning through play looks like at Miss Roxy’s Daycare & Preschool. Sometimes our learning tools are pencils and books…and sometimes they're apples covered in paint! 😂🍎🎨
