Our wildland engine and crew responded yesterday to a grass fire along Dersch Road east of Deschutes Road. The fire was caused by a vehicle towing a trailer that was not properly secured, allowing it to create sparks as it traveled along the roadway. Thanks to the quick response and aggressive fire suppression the fire was contained.
This incident serves as an important reminder to always secure safety chains, properly hitch and secure trailers, and inspect your brakes, tires, wheels, bearings, and catalytic converter. Taking a few minutes to perform these safety checks can help prevent roadside fires and protect lives and property.

Since Saturday evening, weโve been providing water tender support to the Brook Fire in the Bella Vista area of Shasta County. As of this morning, containment is over 50% with Cal Fire reporting that personnel continue to strengthen control lines and mop up the fire perimeter.
