Words of Faith Friday. βοΈπ€π
Life has truly been trying this summer. Between selling a house, buying a house, summer sports, every summer "camp" known to man, birthdays, showers (literally & celebration), we have been going nonstop this summer in the Chaney household.
I am looking forward to some routine & back-to-school festivities. Am I the only one?!
Here lately I have been using the bible app to find inspiration on what to read in my bible- I remember asking my husband one day if he just opens his bible to a random page or if he hears God tell him what to read, or if he started from the front of the book & reads to the back. And he said a mix, but usually just reads what comes to him from God. To me - I didnt understand it, at first. So I started using the Bible App on my phone, and every day it sends me a scripture and I would open my bible to that scripture & read what came before & after. And as I have been doing this I realize that this is what Seth meant. This is God showing me what to read, what I need to learn, what I need to consume & take in from the bible. Because not once have I opened my bible to read any part of it and it brought failure to my life.
So I want to ask you, how do you go about reading your bible? I also want to know what your favorite verse is in the bible so I can add to my list of areas in the bible to read through if I havent already. Because lets be real, I didn't grow up in the church or around people who read the bible. In "years" wise I'm still a toddler in my salvation- so I have a lot of reading & growth to do! Drop your favorite verse below so I can give it a read!
Happy Friday, have a great weekend! ππ€ βοΈ

I don't know many scriptures, as i'm still reading & learning every day. But this, this one right here, very very true.
I've spoken to so many people over the past few weeks since I announced the closing of my storefront. Most have been supportive, a few have been sad & disappointed. None have been ugly or rude and I am incredibly thankful for that.
I do want to clear the air a little more- ONLY the storefront is closed.
π€ If you're on the books for a custom order- that order will be fulfilled & I will reach out to discuss those details as well get closer to your date(s)
π€ If you need a custom order- reach out! I can't gurantee as to whether I can do it but don't hesitate to try! Because of some changes in my personal life I will be more limited in the quantity of custom orders I take on a weekly/monthly basis.
π€ Holidays & Major events will still happen (Celebration Village, Chilifest, Railroad Festival, Christmas & Thanksgiving etc) Quantities & Menus will be limited- but will still happen!
π€ Homeland Sweets isn't going anywhere for now, so long as God says so, I have plans. π
π€As many can tell, I am adding to my portfolio though - to include catering/grazing tables. And the Cake Bar is also still available for events!
So please, don't fear I am not going anywhere & your cookie dealer is still around, just may have to plan like the good ol days a little more on getting your hands on cookies, sweets & more!
Happy Sunday, have a great week! ππ€πͺπ

This past weekend I was given the opportunity to do my first ever charcuterie grazing table, with custom desserts & treats to match for a wonderful family who received a beautiful blessing! I had fun shopping, decorating & setting this all up and watching it come together so beautifully.
Is this something we want to see more of? Have an event that you may want some grazing tables for? Send me a message & lets talk details! β€οΈ

Psalms 34:18
"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed."
I would be lying if I said I was happy, certain, or excited about the closing of Homeland Sweets storefront. I've felt everything from disappointment, heartache, sadness, confusion, frustration, to failure. This scripture came to me on my bible app yesterday and I thought how fitting it is. The only thing I know right now- is that God has a plan. He has to. He's had one my whole life whether I knew it or not. I have walked through worse situations, worse pain, but this one is hitting different. This one is hitting me more personally than anything else, because its mine. Don't get me wrong I had enormous help along the way to get to where I am/was. But this was MY business, my vision, my job, my art, my creation.
But even through all these feelings, every day I am being reminded that I am not a failure. I am not the circumstances, I am not this chapter. I am a child of God. And God's children will fail, but not be failures. God's children will be heartbroken, but not forever. God's children will make sacrifices, but not be sacrificed as Jesus has already done that for us.
As I close this building up, selling things out, cleaning out the garbage, condensing what I will keep and not, I am finding myself pulling closer to God, and every day he reminds me why I went down this path. Every day someone will text, message, call, or speak in person the positive impact I have made in their life simply through cookies. And I know that that is God reminding me that I am not a failure, and that though my spirits are momentarily crushed, this isnt forever. This is just a chapter, just a moment in history, and that something bigger, better, maybe different, is headed this way. Don't know when, don't know where, don't know how. But I know it'll be good, because God is good.
Have a great weekend everyone! π€
*the cup is empty because the espresso machine is not in use anymore. But I do plan to continue words of Faith Friday, just going to get creative with how I do it going forward. πβοΈ

β οΈ Announcement β οΈ
This post is long, but its necessary and needs to happen sooner than later so the word can get out.
As of July 31st, Homeland Sweets will no longer have a storefront. I know this probably comes as a shock to many, as I had mentioned previously about only being closed for the summer. However, in life we are given chapters, and in those chapters the seasons can change. I haven't fully decided if I will continue to do some baking part-time with holiday pop-ups, or do events with the cake bar. But the storefront and custom orders are going to be shutting down for now. *please continue reading *
I started this business from the comfort of my home as a means to earn a little extra side hustle money, but still being a stay-at-home mom. A few years ago I was given a chance and opportunity to have my very own brick-and-mortar location. For 3 years I have ran numerous orders, had a few employees, met countless of customers and created friendships that I hope will last a lifetime. I'm approaching a new chapter and season in my life with my family and I am choosing to do things differently.
I will never stop being thankful for the customers and friends who have supported me from my walmart & piggly wiggly pickup days, to frequent & weekly stops at the bakery. You gave a girl who didn't grow up here, or know anyone here outside of her husbands family an opportunity to build something for herself, and I will forever cherish those memories. For every birthday party, wedding, baby shower, anniversary, school event, and holiday that you allowed Homeland Sweets to be a part of, thank you.
That being said, I will fulfill the custom orders that have already been placed through the end of the year. I am also going to do a 4th of July pre-order that is a gurantee last chance to get some cookies/desserts for awhile, if you have any gift cards you may use them for this. Any and all gift cards will be honored & you can send me a DM to figure out a way to honor those should you choose not to use them for 4th of July Pre-order and would rather use towards a custom order.
Thank you for your support and understanding through this transition and change. I am not going to say I am done baking forever, but for now I will be..
Thank you π€

1 Corinthians 13:4
"Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud."
Love is always something that seems "obvious" to many people. Buying flowers, spending time with each other, getting married, doing things for your kids, etc.. but the Bible teaches us two main factors for what Love IS. Its patience & kindness. Its what you do when someone has upset you or broke your heart. It's s what you do when you don't get that job promotion or that business deal. It's what you become when someone has broken trust or your kids crossed a boundary they shouldn't have. It's how you react when someone hits your vehicle or doesnt use a turn signal.
As humans God created us to have emotions, to have feelings, to have reactions and ultimately be humans. But he also created love. And he's given us a book on how to do it. Is the Love you give to your spouse, friends, family, children, coworkers patience and kindness?
I'm learning to do better in this department. Growing up not exposed to who God is and his works, love for me had a whole different meaning. But now in my 30s, accepting Jesus in my life, I have the real answers on what love is. And as I am never perfect, I am trying to do better at showing what love is. Patience and kindness.
Have a great weekend everyone. π€
