Today was a great class, with Master Shirk, my mentor and self described grandma to our school in town as a guest instructor (and to present me with my official Master's uniform). I can't thank her enough for her support and training, without which our school wouldn't exist. Thank you for all that your do, Master Shirk!

What do you do when there's a tornado warning in the middle of class?
Why, go hang out in the bathroom with ten of your closest Gumdo friends, of course! (Sparring helmets optional.)

Success! Last night we had 22 people collectively contribute 16,208 cuts, or exactly eight times the new year (that is, 8*2,026). Congratulations especially to the two DuBois boys, who were our first two people to individually get all the way to 2,026 cuts by themselves!
Even more importantly, we loved seeing so many friends and family last night. We are so proud of every single person who contributed cuts last night, and of this community that we've created together in such a short time. And we're looking forward to displaying the belt from last night! Haidong!

Master Instructor Lilith and Assistant Instructor Amy Erica had a great time at The Gym - Boltz’s Family Martial Arts Academy's Fall Phoenix Festival Tournament on Saturday! We made a good showing in all events, Gumbop (Forms), Paper Cutting, Sparring, and live blade tub - err... tube cutting. Lilith took first in the black belt division sparring, and Amy Erica took second in color belt Paper Cutting. Thank you to the whole crew who helped put the tournament on, and we look forward to bringing more competitors in the future!
