A special thank you to Representative David Smith of Winter Springs and Florida legislators for listening, engaging, and responding to concerns shared by members of the Florida Chapter of NARPM during the 2026 Day on the Hill in Tallahassee.

As constituents in Representative Smith's district, John and Stacey McKay of Property Management University, Inc. who are also Florida NARPM members had the opportunity to discuss the growing problem of rental application fraud and the impact it has on property owners, residents, and housing providers throughout Florida with Rep. Smith.

We are grateful for the unanimous support of both the Florida House and Senate in passing legislation that strengthens protections against rental application fraud, helping safeguard property owners while promoting fairness for honest renters.

This achievement is a reminder that when industry professionals engage in the legislative process, meaningful change can happen.
