In this personal episode of Around Alpine Union, students complete the phrase, “If you really knew me…” and share the talents, interests, dreams, and experiences that make them unique.
From future engineers and veterinarians to athletes, artists, and performers, their stories remind us how much there is to discover when we take the time to truly get to know one another.
Sometimes, making every minute matter starts with taking just one minute to ask a question, listen, and learn someone’s story.

A special thank you to our Alpine Sheriff’s Department for joining Dr. Newman, Mrs. Ripke, and our amazing CELC staff as morning greeters at CELC today! 💙 We are grateful for the continued partnership and presence of our Alpine Sheriff’s Department and all they do to support our students, staff, and families. This is what community looks like. We are TEAM AUSD! Make every minute matter!
Dear AUSD Families,
What an eventful first day of school.
As the school day came to an end and conditions related to the Dehesa fire changed, our teams immediately put our safety procedures into action. Out of an abundance of caution, we evacuated our ESS, ELOP, and Preschool programs, contacted families, and worked to ensure every student was safely reunited with their family.
I am incredibly grateful for our staff, families, law enforcement partners, and everyone who worked together today. Our safety procedures worked exactly as intended, and most importantly, our students were kept safe.
We recognize that many members of our AUSD community are being directly impacted by the fire tonight, including families and staff members who have had to evacuate their homes. Please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers tonight. This is a strong community, and I know we will continue to look out for and support one another.
Since many families have reached out asking about tomorrow, all AUSD schools will be open tomorrow and operate on their regular schedules. Should conditions change in a way that impacts our schools, we will communicate with families immediately.
Thank you for your patience, trust, and partnership today. On a first day none of us could have anticipated, our community came together when it mattered most.
Please stay safe tonight and take care of one another. Make every minute count!

A huge thank you to the Alpine Sheriff's Department for being such an incredible partner to Alpine Union!
We are grateful for their continued presence on our campuses and their commitment to building strong relationships with our students, staff, and families. Their partnership goes far beyond keeping our schools safe - they are a visible, supportive part of our community.
We appreciate the deputies who take the time to visit our campuses, connect with our students, collaborate with our staff, and help us create schools where everyone feels safe, supported, and cared for.
Strong schools are built through strong community partnerships, and we are fortunate to have the Sheriff's Department standing alongside TEAM AUSD. Thank you for all you do.
