Apple Mac Upgrades - RAM, SSD Flash, External Drives and More 03/10/2022

Apple won't be making a larger M1-chip-based iMac for likely another year, and the 27" intel iMacs are no longer available at the online store. But I do see them discounted at the Mac-centric online retailer Other World Computing, based in Woodstock, IL. I expect these will go fast (as in fast-selling, not M1-fast).

Tis the season. Shopping on behalf of my clients finds me at the Deer Park Apple Store every few days. So I was there again today to grab a 24" iMac and they were completely sold out of the models with 512 GB of storage, which happened to be what I was looking to purchase. My sales associate called the Woodfield Apple Store and was able to put a hold on the last one they had, so I rushed down there to pick it up. I learned that they are telling customers to order their new Macs online. Those who order today are being told to expect a delivery date on December 15th. So if you're expecting to buy one for Christmas giving, don't delay placing your online order. The inventory issues applies to the new iPhones as well. If your inner-Santa needs a helper, I'm a phone call away.
