I came across this dryer vent while on an inspection this week. Just a reminder to pay attention to yours. Run your dryer and go outside to make sure you have airflow. If you have any doubts, have it cleaned.
The type of cover being used in this photo is not recommended for dryer vents for obvious reasons.

I came across this make shift chimney cap on an inspection last week. Better than nothing I guess. 🤔

As we begin year five I’m looking for some feedback. I am constantly bombarded by solicitation calls from Yelp, Home Advisor, Angie’s list, Thumbtack and others asking me to sign up for their services.
I’m wondering which if any consumers prefer.

While doing a home inspection last week I came across this filter in the furnace. I often find that the furnace and water heater are the most neglected appliances in the home.
Set up a reminder in your phone to replace your filters and schedule regular service. The air that circulates through your furnace and duct work is the air you breath.

Remember to get out and check your downspout extensions. The more water you can keep directed away from your homes foundation the better.

It seems like for the first time in a few years we are getting a real taste of winter. You may notice homes in your neighborhood or even your home with icicles hanging from the gutters. It looks nice but in most cases this is caused by poor ventilation and lack of insulation in the attic which can lead to bigger problems.
