Albuquerque’s own Matthew “Diamond Boy” Griego is officially taking the next major step in his professional boxing career, signing a three-year deal with Zuffa Boxing.

Griego made the announcement following another impressive performance, stopping Wilner Soto in the second round and improving his undefeated professional record to 16-0 with 11 knockouts.

The signing puts Griego on a much bigger stage as he joins Zuffa Boxing, the new professional boxing promotion led by some of the biggest names in combat sports, including Dana White.

For Griego, the opportunity is the payoff for years of work, patience, and perseverance. Despite long stretches of inactivity and fights falling through, “Diamond Boy” continued training and stayed ready for his opportunity.

Now that opportunity has arrived.

At 30 years old, undefeated and moving into the 118-pound bantamweight division, Griego enters this next chapter with his sights set on bigger fights, championship opportunities, and making his mark on the world stage.

From Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Zuffa Boxing — the journey continues.
