Wise words from the equally wise Leanna Rae.
Affective Neuroscience has shown that it is through relationship that we connect and inspire change. As caregivers we must look beyond the behavior and see the behavior as a form of communication and stress response. When setting loving and firm limits, we must engage in reflective inquiry and ask:
What is the source of stress?
Where is the unmet need?
What skills are lacking that need to be supported and developed within myself and my child?
Answering these questions will bring you and your child closer and that is gift that traditional “behavior management” cannot give you. - Leanna Rae
