At the water’s edge in Alameda Point, reflecting on Awesöme Orchestra.

September 19, 2026, a vibrant gathering of talented souls openly iterated on different ways to approach the art of orchestra.

We witnessed musicians listening to each other to better understand themselves.

We heard cultural values and ideas expressed through the music.

We experienced the joy and power of creative collaboration as Awesöme Orchestra played Omar Thomas's defiant A Mother of A Revolution! Commissioned for wind ensemble on the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, honoring Marsha P. Johnson.

For the second half, they played one of our favorite John Williams pieces: his "Superman March" from the 1978 film Superman.

Special Thanks to Radium Arts Board Member Alison Bliss who also graced us with her musical talents, making Awesöme Orchestra even more awesome.

If you missed it, we hope to see you at the next event inside the Tortona Big Top on October 22nd. If you were part of our audience, we truly appreciate your presence. Let’s keep the momentum flowing.

Thank you Alameda Post for shining a light on Radium Arts.

"We are deeply committed to working alongside artists, businesses, community members, and the City of Alameda to build Alameda Point to become the most exciting cultural hub in the Bay Area," Jonathan Moscone, the new artistic director of Radium Arts, told Gene Kahane in a recent interview.
