James Ruth Studio James Ruth is an acrylic artist whose work is characterized by texture and is rooted in an exploration of nature, spirit, and emotion. What began as a journey of healing from the trauma of a shattered spine has evolved into a vibrant, expressive practice where color and texture are used as a languag...

Self-taught painter James Ruth made his debut at Arts Alive with his first official art showing. Inspired by nature, color, and texture, James creates intuitively, letting each piece go wherever the canvas takes him. A true emerging artist, his work brought so much energy to the weekend. Thank you, James, for sharing your art with us. We’re glad the canvas led you to Arts Alive! 🎨✨

Hi all my wonderful followers!!!!
I know it has been a minute since I have posted any new art. We took a 13 day road/RV trip from Birmingham to Buffalo and taking our time enjoying Mother Earth and all her splendor! From rushing water at Niagara Falls, to New River Gorge featuring mastery of metal bridges that are awe inspiring, to the stones and trees of the Smokey Mountains….and this Raven (Crow) that we drove past in the Smokey Mountains that sat and posed for five minutes so I could get the right angle for a picture! (You all know I LOVE a Raven)🐦‍⬛

I believe we experienced every single element the earth has to share and it was pure bliss!! Having my amazing husband and our fur babies with us made it heavenly! 💚

I promise I am returning to the easel and working with some leads on shows, exhibitions and events! In the mean time….be sure to follow and subscribe to all my socials, visit my website where you can order prints or request more information!

Enjoy these few pictures from our trip and look forward to posting more art soon!

Thanks for all who share and/or interact in someway with my posts because every time someone does, my page gets that much more engagement!!

I love and appreciate all of you!!

"When my world went still, the universe got louder. My art is what happens when you stop managing a career and start documenting the celestial energy of coming back to life."

James Ruth Studio thrives on stories like these! This is the bonus reward of doing what I love!

"Art isn't for everyone, but my art is for someone." I know my work won’t appeal to every single person, and that’s the beauty of it. But occasionally, a piece connects so deeply that it brings back a happy memory or a moment frozen in time for someone. Honestly??? That’s the absolute best part of being an artist!

Emerging Artist Scholarship Recipient: James Ruth

Working primarily with acrylics, James creates bold, color-driven pieces that balance structure and fluidity. His work is deeply personal, shaped by his journey of recovery after a life-altering accident. Through art, he has found a powerful way to process, express, and reclaim.

Each piece carries intention, emotion, and what he describes as “a piece of my heart and soul.”

We can’t wait for you to experience his work at Arts Alive!
