Akron Promise

Akron Promise stitches together existing education support programs and will work to identify any gaps and fill them. Using that support network, federal, state, and private funding, the Akron Promise will, for students living in Akron, provide support for a quality education. For those graduating from high school in Akron, it will provide scholarship money toward required post-secondary education for a fulfilling life and career. Connecting.... Enriching... Funding.... Promise Programs are scholarship and post-secondary educational attainment programs where the community actively makes a commitment to help prepare resident students for post secondary education and career. Such programs include academic support, college application navigation support, scholarship money, post-secondary education support, and job connection support. The various components are usually provided by existing organizations, but are a part of a larger, and coordinated commitment. Promise programs are active in dozens of cities around the country (Kalamazoo Promise is the most well known). Existence of such programs has shown to have beneficial impacts on not only education, but also economic development. We also invite you to get involved. We need your ideas. We need your counsel. Please engage with us so that we can work together with you and others to establish this program and improve the lives of not only our students, but all community members.
