The Sunn O))) HalfLife Octave Distortion + Boost possesses three distinct clipping options that govern the Amplitude circuit.

Op-Amp: Absolute.
Asymmetrical: Smoldering.
Symmetrical: Dense.

At the threshold waits a monophonic analog octave, controllable by hand or expression. Magnitude provides an independent, 100% clean MOSFET boost—preserving your signal while pushing the amplifier into total ecstasy.

We hope you transcend. earthquakerdevices.com/half-life

We recently met up with the incredible Eva Gardner (The Mars Volta, P!nk, Gwen Stefani, Cher) at Seahorse Sound and introduced her to the Scrolls Bass Odyssey!

In this clip, Eva has both the Drive and EQ channels engaged and is using the Vari-Freq control to dial in a punchy, gritty, full-frequency tone. And btw, that’s no ordinary bass Eva’s using. It’s a family heirloom. This 1962 Fender Precision Bass belonged to her father, Kim Gardner, bassist for the legendary English rock band The Creation. He converted it to fretless circa 1970.

Kentaro Nakao built a wall of sound that helped define a generation of Japanese rock music—a sound we recently helped him harness in the Scrolls Bass Odyssey. Yet despite his lasting influence, Kentaro and his work remain largely undiscovered by North American audiences.

In our latest blog, we explore Kentaro's remarkable career, discover his unique sonic imprint, and listen to the songs Kentaro himself selected as the definitive examples of his body of work.
