Today is my birthday, and I honestly can't think of a better birthday wish than this.

After years of dreaming, planning, building, and working to make Killer Video something special, today we're taking the biggest step yet.

TOTALLY KILLER VIDEO IS OFFICIALLY LIVE ON KICKSTARTER!

We're building a permanent home for physical film culture right here in Akron—a place that brings together our museum, a lending library of more than 10,000 movies, a boutique film shop, and a 20-seat micro-cinema.

For me, this is about so much more than opening a video store. It's about preserving something I love, creating a place for our community to come together, supporting independent filmmakers, and making sure the magic of discovering movies doesn't disappear.

We've secured the space. We've built the collection. We've brought an incredible community together. Now we need help making it all happen.

Our goal is $35,000, and every pledge brings us one step closer.

A rare slice of 1987 practical-effects history just crawled into the permanent collection at Killer Video. This isn’t a modern replica—it’s an authentic, original cast-resin Caterpuppy promotional display, sent directly to video stores by New World Pictures to hype the release of House II: The Second Story. Sculpted after Chris Walas’s unforgettable creature design, these counter pieces were the ultimate way distributors brought the tactile charm of 1980s creature features right to the rental checkout.

Surviving in incredible condition with its original studio label still intact on the underside, this little guy is a pure time capsule of vintage video store culture. He’s officially settled into Killer Video right where he belongs, so come say hi to Bippy on your next visit.
