Annual ski trip to beautiful CO with my kids…all 4 this time! Successful day 1 in the books. And taking a day for sightseeing this time…

Happy 👀🎨As we continue to look at small details with big impacts, we would be remiss not to mention the backpack nooks we incorporated into our work with the I Promise Housing Development. The development has an intrinsic connection to education, through its partnership with the LeBron James Family Foundation and Akron I Promise Schools. 📚 Our friends at City Architecture had this to say about the project...

"Amongst the development’s many features that support education and learning at home is a mudroom-style cubby in each apartment for backpack storage. This small detail, designed in partnership with Lanza Design, reinforces the importance of education as residents enter their unit every day."

At Lanza Design, we’re looking to make a wholly original statement in every environment we touch so that the spaces are one-of-a-kind to--and not like the place just down the road. In recent projects, we’ve done that by…

• Adding design elements into the ceiling,

• Putting unusual details on a fireplace façade, for example

• Using architectural elements on the walls rather than artwork.

• Thoughtfully layering lighting by adding sconces, detail lighting over window treatments, or art.

• Using wall spaces differently-- with panels that are a fretwork of details that go up 2 stories.

• In a music room, we did it by hanging musical instruments on the walls instead of pictures.
