Happy "National Checklist Day," ! (Oct 30th)
Checklists Day is an opportunity to appreciate the value of using checklists to help avoid tragedy and disappointments and to take advantage of opportunities, making your day far more productive than without them. Important things in our lives are far less likely to "slip through the cracks" when you employ the use of checklists!
According to Checklist.com, checklists are a great way to take care of things so that you’ll have peace of mind. They are a perfect place to add a note about something you don’t want to forget the next time you do something.
It appears that the first known (or well known) checklist was inspired by a tragic mishap. On October 30, 1935, a Model 299 prototype for the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress crashed during takeoff at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio. The cause of the crash was identified as a gust lock that was still engaged.

Happy National Pumpkin Day, ! (October 26th)
According to "Holidays Calendar"...
Pumpkin Day is a nonofficial holiday which falls on October 26th and is celebrated annually. The purpose of this holiday is to celebrate and give thanks for that squash cultivator that is such an integral part of American culture. The pumpkin is not only delicious but it is also one of the main symbols of Halloween in the U.S and is a central element in many fall festivals, events, and contests. A popular event featuring the humble pumpkin is “Pumpkin Chunking.” This event involves teams building a multitude of different mechanical devices that are all intended to throw a pumpkin as far as possible. Some of the devices constructed for Pumpkin Chunking Competitions include air cannons, trebuchets, catapults and even ballistas. With their popularity increasing each and every year, it really shouldn’t be a surprise that this orange squash has its own holiday. #
