Gear check.
One of the tools we use for five-year internal inspections is an underwater ROV.
For tanks where an in-service inspection is appropriate, the ROV allows us to visually assess internal conditions without draining the tank or requiring confined-space entry.
Less disruption. Valuable visual documentation. And a much better understanding of what’s happening below the waterline.

Do you have one of these tanks at your facility?
Fire protection water storage tanks are a critical part of many sprinkler systems, but they’re often overlooked until an issue is discovered.
One of the most common things we find is that the required NFPA 25 five-year internal inspection has simply never been performed, or it’s long overdue.
Routine inspections help verify the condition of the coating system, identify corrosion or sediment accumulation, and provide owners with a clear understanding of the tank’s condition.
If you’re not sure when your fire protection tank was last inspected, we’d be happy to be a resource.

This isn’t a tank full of chocolate.
It’s the fire protection water storage tank that supplies the sprinkler system at one of Hershey’s facilities.
Most people never get to see these tanks, let alone what’s inside them. Periodic inspections help verify the condition of the tank so it will perform as intended if it’s ever need it.
It’s one of those things that people rarely think about until an emergency happens.

Assure Fire Solutions is now ISO 9001:2015 certified.
Over the past several months, we’ve worked to formalize the systems behind how we plan projects, perform inspections, manage records, and continually improve our services.
For our clients, this means an independently audited quality management system supporting our inspection and reporting services.
Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout the process.

Repairs are like medication...
They solve one problem, but sometimes create another.
This valve was recently added to a water storage tank.
From the outside, the installation appears straightforward.
What isn’t always obvious is what happens on the opposite side of the steel.
The heat generated during welding can damage the coating system inside the tank, creating an area that may require additional repair to maintain long-term corrosion protection.
Sometimes the most important part of a repair is understanding its unintended consequences.
Have you ever fixed one issue only to uncover another?

On site this week supporting a fire water storage tank inspection project...
These systems often operate quietly in the background for years, but understanding their condition is important for long-term reliability, maintenance planning, and NFPA 25 compliance.
Appreciate the opportunity to work alongside other professionals in the industry to help clients better understand the condition of their systems.
You can’t inspect what you can’t see.
This is what it takes just to expose the surface enough to evaluate the condition inside a water storage tank.
The goal isn’t to make it look perfect, it’s to make the condition visible.
Once the surface is cleaned, you can start to see what’s really going on:
- localized corrosion
- coating breakdown
- blistering that may or may not be protecting the steel underneath
From there, we can actually measure and quantify what’s happening, not guess.
That’s the difference between assumptions and defensible data.

This is what we’re actually looking for during an internal tank inspection.
The band you’re seeing is the waterline is one of the most common areas for coating breakdown and corrosion to start.
From the outside, this tank showed no obvious issues.
Inside tells a different story.

Understanding the condition of a water storage tank requires more than just a visual inspection.
From ultrasonic thickness readings to coating evaluation and pit depth measurements, multiple methods are used to assess the condition of the tank.
The goal is simple: provide clear, reliable information so informed decisions can be made about maintenance and long-term performance.
If you’re unsure of your tank’s current condition, we’re always happy to take a look

Before entering a confined space, ventilation is critical.
This setup introduces fresh air into the tank and helps maintain a safe environment during inspection.
Entry doesn’t happen without proper ventilation and atmospheric monitoring.
