Cold Spring Fire and Rescue

2/8/2026 Brush Fire

Today at 1pm, Cold Spring Fire and Rescue and Due West Fire-Rescue were dispatched to the 2800 block of Old Douglas Mill Rd for a reported brush fire. Arriving units located a back yard on fire due to a controlled burn that got out of hand with increasing winds. The fire was extinguished with hand tools and mopped up by Brush 2 and Brush 22 hand lines.

Old Douglas Mill Rd is currently closed between Stevenson and Kay Rd. Please detour accordingly.

UPDATE:
At 11:42 AM, Cold Spring Fire and Rescue, Abbeville County Department of Public Safety Medic 1, EMS1, and E1 were dispatched to the 1300 block of Old Douglas Mill Rd for a single overturned vehicle. Arriving units found 1 car overturned partially in the roadway with no injuries. Attack 2 and Engine 22 provided blockers to keep the scene safe while awaiting a tow truck. All units are now back in service.

1/26/2026 MVA

Today at 11:54AM, Cold Spring Fire and Rescue along with Abbeville County Sheriff's Office, and Abbeville County Department of Public Safety Medic 1 were dispatched to the 2800 block of Stevenson Rd for a reported single vehicle MVA that was blocking the roadway. Attack 2 arrived on scene and reported a single vehicle accident with heavy front end damage. 1 patient was assessed by first responders and later transferred to Medic 1. With help from sheriff 101, fire personnel cleared the vehicle and debris from the roadway and stopped a gas leak from a bulk fuel tank that had ruptured in the accident. All units went back in service at 12:35pm.

1/24/2026 MVA

Yesterday at 1:31 PM, Cold Spring Fire and Rescue, Abbeville County Sheriff's Office, and Abbeville County Department of Public Safety Medic 1 were dispatched to the 300 block of Hwy 201 for a reported 3 car MVA. Arriving units found 3 vehicles involved with a large debris field with 1 car having severe damage. Station 2 personnel assisted with patient assessment and care, traffic control, and hazard mitigation.

1/22/2026 MVA

Today at 4:31PM, Cold Spring Fire and Rescue, Abbeville County Department of Public Safety Medic 1, Abbeville County Sheriff's Office, and South Carolina Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the 2000 block of Old Douglas Mill Rd for a reported MVA with injuries. Attack 2 arrived on scene and advised of a 1 car MVA vs a tree with 1 PI. Station 2 personnel assisted with patient care and hazard mitigation. All units are now back in service.
