Honored to see platforms like the 2026 USA creating space for jurors to discuss women’s rights films.

As a Ugandan Producer, writer and Creative director .bareel working on In Uganda (Film Link https://lnkd.in/dGcmwznh I know how vital these conversations are. Women’s health, rights, and lived realities are not side stories, they’re central to the communities we document.

Events like the Jury Discussion on remind me why we make films: to open dialogue, challenge stigma, and make sure women’s voices are not just heard, but centered.

To the jurors and fellow filmmakers in this space, thank you for holding the lens with care.

Some moments in this work stop you in your tracks. Literally.

Out here in Northern Uganda during our documentary shoot, the road was clear, the sky was wide, and the story was bigger than any script I could write alone.

As a writer and director, I chase these in-between moments. The ones before the “action” and after the “cut.” Where you sit with the land, the people, and the silence and let it teach you what the story really is.

This project took me to new regions, new faces, new truths. Grateful that filmmaking is the vehicle that lets me explore my country from the inside out.

We do the work from scratch, with real people, in real places. No shortcuts. No filters. Just the road, the sky, and the story.

On location, Northern Uganda — behind the scenes.

A Catholic-founded safe space carrying years of history that adds real depth to the environment preservation. With groups like Friends of Zoka, who don’t pick fruits or m like mangoes from the tree but wait until the fruit falls, then take it to the restaurant and serve clients for free, it shows this space lives by values of patience, respect, and generosity. According to WILLIAM LESILE the EU Award winner CEO Of Friends of zoka.

It means the work they are doing there isn’t just about preserving only. It’s part of a longer story of service, community, and preserving what matters.
