Santa Maria Spotlight:
Today, we want to highlight the accomplishments of our past student Ms. Diana Johnson who recently graduated from A.S.J.A Girls College Barrackpore and received awards for Integrated Science, Physical Education, and Principles of Business. She also received the Tenacity Award.
Congratulations, Diana! Continue to make Santa Maria proud.

Mrs. Myler-Guevarro's standard four students used their agro-processing methods research to make some traditional products. They made:
1.Amchar
2.Coconut sugar cake
3. Chilli Bibi
4. Coconut Oil...doh tell anybody about this oil eh
Traditions must be passed on and no one was more excited than our principal to have a sample of the Chilli bibi she said it was her favourite snack.

At Santa Maria R.C we believe in keeping traditions alive. Today Mrs. Supersad-Reviero had our students fully engaged in Creole Chocolate making. Hopefully before the term ends we will be brewing a pot of rich chocolate tea to enjoy with our breakfast. We have definitely been having weather for hot chocolate.

SMRC Green Thumbs Planters have been very very busy. So let's get you all caught up. They entered the 4H School's Root Crop Competition which began late last year and they have been working diligently. They are amongst 8 schools for our county, County Victoria. They entered two categories:

1) Traditional Garden
2) Container Garden

Crops planted:
Cassava, Eddoes, ginger, yam and tipi tambo

They also entered the ADB 4H pack choi competition which ran for a couple of months. Students were required to do journals which integrated Math, Journal Writing and Penmanship.

Yesterday the judges visited to look at the crops as well as listen to presentations and conduct a Q & A segment. As expected our students were brilliant they were able to speak and respond with confidence. We are already so proud of them win, lose or draw.
