(May 18, 2026, Dili, Timor-Leste): The Timor green pigeon is in serious trouble due to hunting and loss of its forest home. This bird is now only found in Timor‑Leste and could soon disappear completely. New research from Charles Darwin University and Birdlife International is calling for the species to be listed as Critically Endangered—the highest threat level before extinction—which can help bring more attention, funding, and stronger protections to save it.

On 26 April 2026, we came together for a meaningful activity. But for Timor-Leste Matak no Azul (TLMA), this day was more than just action—it was an unforgettable experience.
For a long time, we have learned about the ocean, biodiversity, and the importance of protecting our environment. But often, we didn’t have the opportunity to see it directly. Through our collaboration with Underwater Cinema (UC), we were finally able to witness with our own eyes the richness of Timor-Leste’s ocean—its coral reefs, fish, and incredible underwater life. 🌊💙
From snorkeling and beach clean-ups to supporting data collection, every small action contributed to a bigger goal: protecting our ocean and our future. 🌍✨
This experience didn’t just open our eyes—it strengthened our commitment to continue protecting the environment. Because when we see it ourselves, we truly understand why it must be protected.
A big thank you to UC and to everyone who participated with energy, time, and dedication. Your efforts matter, and your impact is real.
We look forward to work with you again in our upcoming future.
