Created by trauma specialist and family therapist Donna Rego, Cee-It gives parents instant emotional insight into what’s really driving a child’s behaviour and the exact words to respond with safety, connection, and understanding. It’s not about control or correction. It’s about clarity, regulation, and reconnection in the moments that matter most.

When we stop judging behaviour, we make space to understand it.

And when we become curious about what behaviour is trying to tell us, we create more room for connection, understanding, and healing.

Sometimes, the shift begins simply by asking: “What is this behaviour telling me?”

Sometimes what looks like defiance, anger, or “bad behaviour” is a child trying to communicate something they don’t yet have the words for.

When we move from “How do I stop this?” to “What is this telling me?”, we create space for connection, safety, and understanding.

Children don’t need to be fixed.

They need to be understood. 🤍

There is no shortage of parenting advice.

Timeouts. Reward charts. Consequences. Scripts.

We’ve been given strategies for decades.

But when the strategy doesn’t work, parents are often left wondering, “What am I doing wrong?”

The answer isn’t always another strategy.

Sometimes, what we need is a deeper understanding of what sits underneath the behaviour because when we understand the why, we can respond with more confidence, connection, and trust in ourselves.

That has always been the heart of my work.

Not to create parents who need more and more advice, but to help parents understand their children well enough to trust themselves.

That’s the difference between simply managing behaviour and truly understanding it.

A reminder that there is always more beneath the behaviour we see.

When we pause, listen and look a little closer, we create space to understand what a child may be experiencing, not just what they are showing us.

Sometimes what looks like “bad behaviour” is a child struggling to cope.

When a child hits, bites, kicks, scratches or throws something, it can be easy to see the behaviour as aggressive, defiant, or deliberate.

But what if we paused to ask what is happening beneath the behaviour?

When a child’s body becomes overwhelmed before their thinking brain can catch up, everything can feel too big, too fast, too much.

Understanding the behaviour doesn’t mean ignoring it.

It means responding to what the child may actually be communicating.

That’s what Episode 2 of What Is This Child Telling Me? explores.

09/08/2026

What if we stopped asking, “How do I stop this?” and started asking, “What might my child be experiencing right now?”

When a child lashes out, it’s easy to focus on the behaviour we can see.

But underneath the behaviour, there may be a feeling, need, or experience they don’t yet know how to communicate.

Understanding doesn’t mean allowing every behaviour.
It means getting curious about what’s underneath it.

Because when we understand the experience… the behaviour begins to make sense. 🤍

When your child hits, bites, kicks, scratches, or throws something, it's easy to believe they're being naughty, aggressive, or trying to hurt someone.

But what if we looked beneath the behaviour?

Lashing out is your child's attempt to cope with an experience they don't yet know how to manage.

It may look aggressive, defiant, or even deliberate.

But what's really happening is often something very different.

Their body has become overwhelmed before their thinking brain could catch up.

Inside, everything feels too big.

Too fast.

Too much.

The next time your child lashes out, pause before asking:

"How do I stop this?"

Instead ask yourself:

"What might my child be experiencing right now?"

Because when we understand the experience...

the behaviour begins to make sense. 🤍
