When a child looks away, it may not be about avoiding you. Sometimes, they’re asking for space before they can let you in.

That small shift in understanding can change the whole interaction. 🤍

When your child looks away, they may be telling you something. 👀

Turning their head, hiding their face, looking down, or avoiding your gaze, especially after correction, during stress, or in unfamiliar situations, can be a way of managing closeness that feels like too much.

Sometimes, eye contact can feel intense, exposing, or overwhelming. Instead of forcing your child to look at you, try offering safety first.

Sit beside them. Stay present. Let connection happen without demanding eye contact.

Because eye contact grows when a child feels safe enough to give it. 🤍
