Trying new things
One week ago, in San Jose del Cabo, I brought my mermaid song (Měsíčku na nebi hlubokém ‘Song to the Moon’ from Rusalka by Dvořák) to a pool for the first time. This is the piece I use for my current opera+trapeze act, so I wasn’t worried about the physicality, but there were a few differences, like the simple act of pushing through water while maintaining breath control. Thankfully, the pool was only 5’, and I’m 5’8.5”, so I didn’t have to work to stay above water.
Because the piano legs were in the water, when my ears were submerged, I could still hear, which was really cool.
And this pool was *warm*.

No really. Arias in the pool in Baja California. I can't believe you need further convincing.
Baja Piano Fest at San Jose del Cabo Main Plaza (headlining Friday the 17th) and Acre Resort (Saturday and Sunday).
Some of the folks behind Flower Piano have invited me to participate in an event that had me sending a 21-song repertoire list and now has me going through my gowns and figuring out which ones will look good floating in the water. I know it's late notice but ... live a little. It's later than you think. I'm ecstatic for this "I can't believe I get paid to do this" moment and would love to share it with you. If you actually show up I will buy you nine drinks. Nine.

Devastated and shocked that Rainelle Krause has passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Rainelle was one of six of us in the world (of whom I’m aware) who sing opera on aerials. She is a friend I never met, and we supported each other from afar on this wild journey. I missed her The Metropolitan Opera debut by a week this past December, and she was so upset to have had to cancel some of those shows. She was unfailingly kind and supportive of my journey; women supporting women in a way that only divas can. The loss of her voice and spirit leave a hollow in the opera world, and those of us combining circus and opera are bereft. Rainelle, thank you for everything. Sending so much love to her family and colleagues.
Rainelle’s recent performance with Opera Atelier has gone viral for her encore that put extensions on the tops of the Queen of the Night. Go listen and be thankful we got to exist in the world at the same time as Rainelle.

Spend Valentine’s Day with me at Dark Garden Unique Corsetry After Dark’s Fête de Cupid at The Palace Theater I’ll be an aerial siren, as well as singing at least one aria on the ground. 🎶💙 I’m joined by incredible performers; some longtime favorite collaborators, some new, and at least one I’m looking forward to sharing backstage hilarity with for the first time! .goldminor and and Kat Robichaud!
This event is going to be sumptuous, gorgeous, and sexy…more so if you’re there. 😘

Still looking for New Year’s Eve plans? I’ll be doing some of these antics at The Palace Theater to ring in the New Year.
I’ve been a huge fan of this literal and figurative underground space for years, and I’m thrilled to finally have been asked to perform there. YES… doing this. So if you’ve thought “Where am I going to see opera on trapeze on New Year’s Eve while sipping a cocktail and being regaled with hilarity and also listening to the stunning vocals of Kat Robichaud in a gorgeous 1920’s themed space?” NOW YOU KNOW.
