I just received a photo of the hut at THE LAND FOUNDATION built back in 1998 from U Bat Sat

​I have invited two artists, Rungruang Sittirerk and U Bat Sat to recreate this old hut. To bring it back to life as a functional shelter for seekers.

True to THE LAND FOUNDATION 's Idea of "non-ownership" and collective use, this hut remains an open, shared space. It serves as a miniature, humble sanctuary designed for contemplation, reflection, and living on the simplest scale.

MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum proudly presents BLACK: Vibrant Multiple Light, an exhibition drawn from the museum's collection. The exhibition features a diverse array of media—including paintings, sculptures, photography, moving images, and installation art—created by more than 39 celebrated Thai and international artists. Some of the pieces are over fifty years old, while many others are being unveiled to the public for the first time in decades. These carefully curated works serve as a profound reflection of the artistic vision and collecting interests of Jean-Michel Beurdeley, co-founder of the museum. Beurdeley has chosen pieces that hold deep personal and emotional significance, establishing a collecting philosophy that forms the crucial foundation upon which the museum’s permanent collection has been built and continues to thrive today.

The six canvases in this exhibition have never been painted. The only things that happened to them were that they were produced, transported, purchased, signed, and hung on the gallery wall.

In one sense, these blank canvases exist in a state of readiness before becoming paintings. They are empty spaces filled with possibility.

In another sense, the work questions the idea of the White Cube — a space designed to separate art from its surrounding context and give special status to the objects placed inside it. The empty white walls are not neutral. They carry the power to define value, turning objects into artworks and artworks into commodities.

Meaning may not come only from what we create. Sometimes it emerges when we stop and pay attention to what is already there.
