พบกับพี่ “ปภาวิน ปะเกียน” หรือ “พี่รถดั๊ม” ศิษย์เก่าการบิน มฟล. รุ่น 61 ครับ
ปัจจุบันเป็นลูกเรือของสายการบินนานาชาติแหน่งหนึ่งครับ วันนี้แอดมินได้มีโอกาสพูดคุยกับพี่รถดัมพ์ เลยอยากนำเรื่องราวมาเล่าให้ทุกคนได้ฟังกันครับ

ตอนเรียนปี 4 ที่ การบิน มฟล. พี่รถดั๊มได้มีโอกาสได้ฝึกงานกับทางสายการบินชั้นนำอย่าง Qatar Airways หลังจากเรียนจบก็ได้เข้าทำงานกับบริษัท Lufthansa Services Thailand ในตำแหน่งพนักงานให้บริการผู้โดยสารภาคพื้น ซึ่งการเป็นกราวด์เป็นตำแหน่งงานที่ทำให้มีประสบการณ์ในการทำงานและเป็นก้าวเล็ก ๆ ที่สำคัญที่สามารถพาให้พี่รถดั๊มได้เป็นลูกเรือได้ครับ

สิ่งที่สำคัญมากที่สุดในการเป็นกราวด์คือการทำให้เครื่องบินออกได้ทันเวลา ส่วนหน้าที่ของลูกเรือคือการให้บริการผู้โดยเพื่อสร้างความประทับใจในการเดินทาง รวมถึงเรื่องของความปลอดภัยที่จะต้องดูแลผู้โดยสารให้ถึงที่หมายอย่างปลอดภัย แต่สิ่งที่มีเหมือนกันคือทักษะการแก้ไขปัญหาเฉพาะหน้า และจิตใจในการรักบริการของเรา จะสามารถทำให้เราสร้างความประทับใจให้กับผู้โดยสารอย่างแน่นอนครับ

From ABM student to aviation worker #3 ✈️

Let's meet Papawin Pakian (or Rod-Dump), an ABM Alumni from Batch 61. Currently, he is flying as a Cabin Crew member for an international airline. Today, I had the opportunity to chat with him and wanted to share his inspiring story with you all.

During his 4th year at ABMMFU, he secured an internship with a world-class airline, Qatar Airways. After graduation, he joined Lufthansa Services Thailand as a passenger ground service agent. He considers his time as ground staff a crucial “stepping stone” that provided the valuable experience needed to eventually become cabin crew.

Ground Staff vs. Cabin Crew
For ground staff, the top priority is ensuring the aircraft departs on time. For cabin crew, the focus is on service and safety—creating a great impression while ensuring passengers arrive at their destination safely. However, both roles share the same core skills: Immediate problem solving and a service mind. These are the keys to impressing passengers in any role.

“You will when you believe”
He leaves this message for the ABM juniors: “When you believe in yourself, take action and make it happen. Paying attention in class is vital because the knowledge you gain will be applied in your actual work, whether during your internship or your future career.”

ราชินีแห่งท้องฟ้า “Boeing 747”

วันนี้เมื่อปี ค.ศ. 1969 Boeing 747 ได้ทะยานขึ้นสู่ท้องฟ้าเป็นครั้งแรกโดยสายการบิน Pan American World Airways

B747 เป็นอากาศยานลำตัวกว้างหรือ “จัมโบ้เจ็ท” รุ่นแรกของโลก ซึ่งเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนที่ทำให้การเดินทางระยะไกลหรือข้ามทวีปนั้นมีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้น ซึ่งในอดีตนั้นให้บริการโดยอากาศยานลำตัวแคบที่มีข้อจำกัดเรื่องจำนวนที่นั่งผู้โดยสารและปริมาณเชื้อเพลิงที่สามารถบรรจุได้

แม้ปัจจุบันหลายสายการบินจะปลดประจำการไปแล้ว เนื่องจากอากาศยานรุ่นใหม่ที่มีประสิทธิภาพสูงกว่าเช่น Boeing 787 Dreamliner หรือ Airbus 350 และพฤติกรรมการเดินทางของผู้โดยสารที่เปลี่ยนไป แต่ตำนานของราชินีลำนี้จะยังคงอยู่ตลอดไป

Queen of the Sky “Boeing 747”

On this day in 1969, the Boeing 747 took to the skies for the very first time with Pan American World Airways.

The B747 was the world’s first wide-body aircraft, or “Jumbo Jet.” It marked a major turning point in aviation history, making long-haul and intercontinental travel significantly more efficient. The routes were previously served by narrow-body aircraft with limited seating and fuel capacity.

Although many airlines have now retired their 747 fleets in favor of newer, highly efficient aircraft like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner or Airbus A350, and due to changing passenger travel behaviors, the legend of this “Queen of the Skies” will live on forever.

อุตสาหกรรมการบินในอนาคตอันใกล้ มีอะไรน่าจับตามองบ้าง

ปัจจุบันผู้เล่นในอุตสาหกรรมการบิน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นสายการบิน หรือสนามบิน ต่างก็ให้ความสนใจกับการพัฒนาในหลาย ๆ ด้าน ทั้งประสิทธิภาพในการทำงาน และการให้บริการผู้โดยสาร วันนี้แอดมินขอนำเสนอเทรนด์ที่กำลังมาแรงในอุตสาหกรรมการบินให้ทราบกันครับ

อุตสาหกรรมการบินยั่งยืน (Sustainable Aviation Industry) ซึ่งปัจจุบันผู้ให้บริการมุ่งเน้นมุมมองในการอนุรักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อมเป็นหลัก เช่น การใช้พลังงานหมุนเวียนหรือพลังงานทดแทนในสนามบิน การใช้เชื้อเพลิงอากาศยานแบบยั่งยืน (SAF) การออกแบบอาคารที่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม รวมไปถึงการลงทุนในอุตสาหกรรมอื่น ๆ เช่น การปลูกป่า ลงทุนพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีสีเขียว เพื่อชดเชยการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกจากการให้บริหารผู้โดยสารครับ

สนามบินอัจฉริยะ (Smart Airport) จริง ๆ เป็นเรื่องที่พูดกันมานานแล้ว แต่ปัจจุบันมีการพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีอย่างก้าวกระโดดหลังจากการระบาดของเชื่อไวรัส COVID-19 ทำให้สนามบินพัฒนาเป็นสนามบินอัจฉริยะได้รวดเร็วขึ้น ยกตัวอย่างเช่น การเช็คอินหรือบอร์ดดิ้งโดยการสแกนใบหน้า ซึ่งในอนาคตเราอาจจะได้เห็นการเดินทางโดยไม่ต้องแสดงเอกสารตัวจริง (paperless) ที่สนามบินอีกต่อไป ผ่านโครงการ IATA OneID ครับ

อากาศยานไฟฟ้า (Electric Aircraft) สิ่งที่หลายคนคิดว่าเป็นไปได้ยาก วันนี้หลาย ๆ ประเทศได้นำอากาศยานไฟฟ้าเข้ามาเริ่มทดลองการบินกันแล้ว โดยอาจจะเริ่มต้นจากการขนส่งผู้โดยสารจำนวนน้อย ๆ ในระยะทางสั้น ๆ ก่อน ตอนนี้สายการบินหลักที่กำลังทดลองอยู่ก็คือ Air New Zealand ครับ

พวกเราชาวการบินต้องเตรียมตัวให้พร้อมกับสิ่งที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคตนะครับ

What’s next for aviation?

Currently, key players in the aviation industry—whether airlines or airports—are prioritising development in every dimension, from operational efficiency to passenger service. Today, we would like to highlight the hottest trends shaping the industry right now:

Sustainable Aviation Industry: Service providers are now placing a major focus on environmental issues. This includes using renewable energy within airports, adopting Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and designing eco-friendly terminal buildings. It also extends to investments in other sectors—such as reforestation and green technology development—to offset greenhouse gas emissions generated by operations.

Smart Airports: While this has been a topic of discussion for a long time, technology took a massive leap forward following the COVID-19 pandemic, accelerating the transformation into true smart airports. For example, we are seeing more biometric check-ins and boarding (face scanning). In the near future, through the IATA One ID project, we may see fully paperless travel where showing physical documents is no longer necessary.

Electric Aircraft: What many once thought was difficult to achieve is now happening. Several countries have already begun flight testing electric aircraft, starting with short-haul flights for small numbers of passengers. A major airline currently leading these trials is Air New Zealand.

As aviation professionals, we need to be prepared for the future changes coming our way!"

Supersonic Aircraft “Concorde”

ย้อนกลับไปในวันนี้เมื่อปี ค.ศ. 1976 (พ.ศ. 2519) โลกการบินได้จารึกประวัติศาสตร์หน้าใหม่ เมื่อ “Concorde” (คอนคอร์ด) อากาศยานเคลื่อนที่ด้วยความเร็วเหนือเสียง ได้เริ่มให้บริการผู้โดยสารแบบพาณิชย์เป็นครั้งแรกพร้อมกันถึง 2 เส้นทาง ได้แก่

- British Airways: ลอนดอน - บาห์เรน
- Air France: ปารีส - รีโอเดจาเนโร

ด้วยความเร็วระดับ Mach 2.04 (เร็วกว่าเสียง 2 เท่า) ทำให้ผู้โดยสารสามารถเดินทางได้เร็วขึ้น และกลายเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของความหรูหราและเทคโนโลยีขั้นสูงสุดในยุคนั้น

แม้วันนี้คอนคอร์ดจะปลดประจำการไปแล้ว แต่บทเรียนเรื่อง ต้นทุนการดำเนินงาน (Operating Costs) และ นวัตกรรม (Innovation) ยังคงเป็นกรณีศึกษาสำหรับคนการบินอย่างพวกเราเสมอครับ
