Nong Phai Library

This library is an extension of the client’s house. Since she has a lot of books and the existing area wasn’t enough, she wanted this library to blend with her private bedroom and workspace. She was also worried about termites damaging her books in the old house, so she wanted this new building to keep them safe with a built-in termite protection system. One side of the building faces the rice field, but there’s a fence in the way — so she wanted a seat built above it, allowing her to see the rice field.

จากประสบการณ์การทำงานกับไม้ที่ผ่านมา เรามักเจอปัญหาสีไม้ที่ไม่เป็นไปตามที่คาดหวัง เนื่องจากความไม่แน่ใจในชนิดของไม้และสีผิวไม้แต่ละแบบ การทดลองเคลือบผิวไม้ในครั้งนี้จึงเกิดขึ้นเพื่อตอบคำถามที่ค้างคาใจมานาน

เราเลือกไม้ 3 ชนิดมาทดลอง ได้แก่ ไม้อัดยาง ไม้สัก และไม้สน โดยแต่ละชนิดจะทดลองใช้แลคเกอร์ทั้งชนิดเงาและชนิดด้าน ในสัดส่วนที่แตกต่างกัน พร้อมปรับจำนวนรอบการทาไม่เท่ากัน นอกจากนี้ยังทดลองใช้น้ำยากันปลวกโทนสีต่างๆ เพื่อให้ได้ผลลัพธ์ตรงตามที่ตั้งใจไว้

From our past experience working with wood, we often ran into the problem of wood colors turning out differently than expected — mostly due to uncertainty around wood species and surface tones. This coating experiment was carried out to finally answer a question that had lingered for a long time.

We selected three types of wood for the test: plywood, teak, and pine. For each type, we experimented with both glossy and matte lacquer in varying ratios, along with different numbers of coating layers. We also tested termite-resistant wood treatments in various tones to achieve the intended results.

อิฐมอญอำเภอจังหาร เป็นธุรกิจท้องถิ่นที่สืบทอดมากว่า 40 ปี ด้วยทำเลที่ตั้งริมแม่น้ำชี ซึ่งอุดมไปด้วยดินเหนียวคุณภาพดี อำเภอจังหารจึงกลายเป็นแหล่งผลิตอิฐสำคัญของจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด และมีความผูกพันกับท้องถิ่นอย่างลึกซึ้ง จนถูกบรรจุไว้ในคำขวัญประจำอำเภอ

ผ้าไหมสาเกต ผ้าไหมอัตลักษณ์ของจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด เป็นแรงบันดาลใจสำคัญในการออกแบบ เราแปลลวดลายผ้าไหมให้กลายเป็น Pattern การก่ออิฐบนผิวอาคาร เพื่อสื่อสารถึงรากเหง้าทางวัฒนธรรมกับผู้มาใช้งาน

ชั้นดาดฟ้าได้รับการออกแบบเป็น Amphitheater กลางแจ้ง ที่นั่งพักผ่อนเหล่านี้จะหันหน้าไปยังหอโหวด ซึ่งสะท้อนภาพลงบนบ่อน้ำด้านล่างได้อย่างงดงาม

เนื่องจากอาคารมีลักษณะกึ่งเปิดโล่ง (Semi-outdoor) การออกแบบจึงบูรณาการระบบ Stack Ventilation ผ่านปล่องลมที่ให้อากาศร้อนระบายขึ้นด้านบน ขณะที่อากาศเย็นไหลเข้ามาแทนที่จากด้านล่าง ส่งผลให้ผู้ใช้งานสามารถใช้พื้นที่ได้อย่างสบายตลอดทั้งวัน

Brick-making in Chanharn District has been a local tradition for over 40 years. Situated along the Chi River, the district is blessed with high-quality clay deposits that have made it one of Roi Et Province’s most significant brick-producing areas — a heritage so deeply rooted in local identity that it is enshrined in the district’s official motto.

Saket silk, the iconic textile of Roi Et Province, served as a key design inspiration. Its traditional patterns were reinterpreted as brickwork compositions on the building’s surface, translating cultural heritage into architectural language that resonates with the local community.

The rooftop level is designed as an open-air amphitheater, where seating areas face toward Hor Wod — the landmark tower whose reflection shimmers beautifully across the pond below.

As the building operates as a semi-outdoor space, the design incorporates a stack ventilation system through a series of air shafts. Warm air rises and escapes through the top of each shaft, drawing cooler air in from below — creating a natural airflow that keeps the space comfortable throughout the day.
