Rising Global Oil Prices to Erode 9-Month Fuel Price Cushion
Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg has reassured the nation that while global oil prices are rising, EmaSwati have nothing to worry about for now. Speaking in his latest Finance in Focus episode, the Minister explained that the Strategic Oil Stabilization Fund remains a robust shield against the immediate shocks of the international market.
However, while the fund was originally calculated to provide a nine-month cushion for fuel prices, he noted that this timeline is not static. If global oil prices continue their upward trajectory, that nine-month window will move down as the fund works harder to absorb the rising costs.
